MTBR.com the 29er board on that forum is incredible. Also has builders who are part of the board.

I thought the 69er was the new thing. 26" rear and a 27c front. This geometry makes sense to me since motorcycles have used a similar setup for over 30 years.
The bigger tire in the front should make rolling over objects easier and improve cornering.

It's better for rolling over unevern terrain. They preserve momentum better. Larger wheels track better and are more stable. Traction is better as the longer contact patch allows the tire to conform to terrain better. A small cost is slightly larger wheel weight.
I am fully content with a fully rigid steel 29er where I used to covet a good full suspension 26er. I shall not be returning to 26er land except perhaps for a jump bike.
