Bicycle Mechanics - Front derailleur height question

I have a Scott with a braze on clamp. I switched from the original 53/39 and went to a compact 50/36. The front d is all the way down in the slot,but I'd like to get it a little lower. Obviously, I can't move the clamp down because it's screwed into the carbon frame.

Does anybody make an extra long front braze on clamp or can you rout the slot out to get the derailleur lower? Suggestions appreciated! Thanks, Ken:D

Or go back to a larger ring, like a 38 and use a bigger cog on the cassette?
Probaly better to try something like that before permanently modifying the frame.

The 34T ring isn't the problem, the 50T is.

To the OP: Try the shifting with the fd as low as possible in the current slot and see if it's acceptable. I'd be worried about lengthening the slot unless there is plenty of metal below it.

A good old rattail file like back in high school shop! ;) I'll see if there is enough metal.

I believe that I have seen a hanger with a deeper slot, but it may have been custom made.
On my wife's Ultegra triple with a 49t big ring I used a dremel tool followed by a round file to cut the slot deeper. A word of caution, very little dremel was needed.
Some hangers are fixed to the frame with rivets instead of machine tools.
