Welp~! Its that joyous time to put up or shut up! remember, if you say it outloud, its a commitment. In February of 2006, I found a thread created by user: SandySwimmer. It was call 20-30 pounds, Riding lighter by June. I took to that thread like a fish to water. It had 8300 hits and tons of replys. When I started it, I weighed 210 pounds and was in the clydesdale class. Every post I read made me more hungry to do what I wanted to do.I made a resolution that by June 15th of 06, the morning I left for my summer beach vacation, that I would weigh in at 175 pounds. Riding everyday and eating right.

With the help and encouragement from some of the great people here like Lowcel, Edzo, DannoXYZ, GuitarWizard,Milani,SandySwimmer and others, the morning I left for the beach, I woke up and stepped on the scales and they read 174.2 pounds. It was the first time in my life that I had reached a goal of that proportion.

I had tons of PM's asking what I did and how I did it. Im not the first nor the last to reach a goal like that but it was certainly one of the most memorable and it could not have been done without the support of these great folks of the bike forums.

As for an update. I currently weigh 182.2 pounds and I absolutely killed everything in site during the Christmas holidays. Thats to be expected. Who knows, maybe this thread will take off like SandySwimmers thread did, maybe it wont but let me be the first to step up to the Mic and say......

Im heading to the beach again this year, same beach same time. One day later this year. So with that, Here it is.... June 16th, 2007 I will weigh 165 pounds or less the morning I leave. There it is, I said it so I HAVE to do it.

Next? :)

i'll take you up on the challenge!

i didn't lose as much as i wanted to last year - most likely to not really looking at my portion sizes, as i eat pretty darn healthy, but prolly just too much. and, prolly not riding as much as i should have...

i will extend my goal date to July 1, 2007 tho, and say that i will weigh less than 180 pounds. that will give me a full 6 months to work on losing 25-30 pounds. although i'm female and this is heavy compared to other women, it's a comfortable weight for me (been there before). i will re-evaluate after July 1 to see if i should and can lose more (maybe get in the 160-170 range). it'll still be a lot to drag around on the bike, but hopefully, i will be stronger as well as lighter than i am right now.

i have to have some sort of organization or plan to work at and i ordered the cyclo-core/zen stuff as well as the 12wk off-season training plan. i plan on starting this monday evening, jan 1, 2007. if it's gonna take doing some sort of riding every day of the week and watching portions, then that's what it will be this year!

so - i have said it and it is a commitment.

who's next? :)

Heath: Good to see your posts again man.

After I got serious about cycling in June of this year, I started losing weight slowly and went from 185lbs to 160 lbs. Got lots of compliments, yay!

Here is my resolution for 2007:

By March 1, 2007, I will be 150 lbs.

By May 1, 2007, I will have my abs showing up.

I'm restarting my weight loss and cycling goals.Took 2 months off . Had 1900 plus miles in since June. I needed a break! My "official" weigh in will be Friday at Weight Watcher's ,I'm rejoining. I lost 84 lbs from 7/05 to 6/06 . I'll take the challenge as well

I'll jump in here. A little over a year ago I weighed about 195 lbs. I started biking last march and I've gotten down to 170. I need to get back on track though, and this'll help. Goals this year:

-ride my bike even more often
-start running
-use my bike to run errands and buy groceries instead of the car
-weigh 150 lbs by July

Good luck everybody!

so, what are the rest of you doing to accomplish your goal?

i started the cyclo-core 12wk off season plan monday. today will be my 3rd day and i'm actually looking forward to the 45min ride i will be doing later. i would like to exercise 6 of 7 days or at least 5 of 7. i do realize that there will be days where i don't due to family or other circumstances, but if i can at least be more consistant with my riding/exercising i think i can do this by july 1.

i can already see that exercising more often does help as i've lost 2 pounds since 12/26. i had 4 days of outside riding, skipped sunday and started into cyclo-core monday. i've also started tracking my food intake with fitday (pc) and this helps me be more accountable. i actually have been measuring my food too, at least till i get the hang of what sensible portions look like.

so, anyway....it's like 10 more weeks till daylight savings time...wooo-hooo, means more outside riding!

My goal is to be under 160 in three months and stay under 160. I weighed 187 on September 5 2006 and on Jan 1 2007 I dropped to 164.6. BTW I was about 210 in September 2005. I am 6ft /60YO and can bike up hills as well as I did 40 years ago.

well, i'm still doing good...down 4 pounds since 12/26!

imagine this: really watching what you eat/portion sizes and exercising more frequently does help you lose weight.

how are the rest of you doing?

I hit the Gym everyday and Spin at Lunch. Its just too cold out to ride. I must have thin blood. Im getting leaner, I can feel it. Im still 180-181 but Im shrinking, pants are looser, shirts etc. Man, that spin machine and a hot shower at lunchtime rules! Why didnt I do that last year.

16 pounds to goal.....165 by 6/16/07 BEACH TRIP!

bump.

just an update: for the month of January, I've lost 6.2 pounds (after weighing this morning). I think I coulda lost about 1.5-2 more pounds, but there were 2wks during this month where I didn't hardly do any exercise during the week :(

So, I'm on track for my July 1 goal! Hope everyone else is doing just as good or better!
