I live in an apartment building and even though our Coop Building has a bike room, I really do not feel safe locking it up over there. RIght now I leave my bike in my office room upside down on its handlebars. Can anyone let me know if there is some kind of floor stand where you can leave your bike upright. I have nice maple floors and I do not want to nail anything down and I do not want to hang my bike from the ceiling, just something that I can leave my bike on some type of wheel stand, instead of turning it over everytime or leaning it against the wall which can fall by accident and damage my new floors. My wife and certainly I will not be happy if that happened because I would have to get that fixed. Maybe something like a stand where I can put my wheel into and will hold the bike. Is there such a thing? I guess that is what I am trying to find out.

Thanks in advance.

I bought a "display stand" from my LBS. It's just two metal "U"s that clips onto the rear hub. Works like a charm and only cost $15 bucks.

This may be just the thing: http://www.nashbar.com/results.cfm?category=118&subcategory=1132&storetype=&init=y

I'm considering one of the wood bike stands as I'm in the same predicament as you and will soon have 3 bikes.

I know I have soemthing similar to the nashbar bike wedge, I just hang my bikeson the wall in my bedroom. Takes up less room that way and they work well and are cheap :)

I bought a display stand at my LBS for someting like $5 that just holds the crankarm still, so the bike can't tip over. Nashbar has something in their catalog that clamps to the seatstays to hold the bike. Stands like those listed by mjw16 are also a popular choice that require no drilling/modifications to the building. They are available in most catalogs and in some larger LBS's.
