The LBS here in town has fun rides in the evenings a couple days a week. I'd like to get in on some of these rides but since I live 40 miles away I'd have to bring my bike with me to work and leave it sitting all day outside on the car rack. It's a trunk mount rack and I'm just wondering if there is a way I could secure my bike to my car somehow. I just hate leaving a $2000+ bike sitting out for some jack@ss to be able to snag!! Any ideas??

Can you bring it into your workplace and try to stick it someplace out of the way?
Unless your rack locks to your car there isn't really anyway to lock your bike up that I can think of.

Maybe a long cable and padlock? You might be able to run the cable through the frame and wheels and then down to the frame. Just make sure it doesn't hang down far enough that it might catch on anything and doesn't contact any of the car's suspension. Hardware stores usually sell plastic coated cable in custom lengths.
