The guys and I were discussing night rides yesterday, and I decided to start a poll. Since I'm going to be heading into serious training (in advance of the Butterfield double), I would like to get two night rides in a week. I was thinking Tuesday and Thursday nights, in lieu of Wednesday. I also thought, one night, the ride would start around 6:30pm (e.g. Tuesday night) and the next at 7:00 or 7:30pm (e.g. Thursday). The rides would consist of the usual route, with variations in how we return and if we actually do a full loop in the canyons (in lieu of the return on the bike path), but that they would be pretty consistent for awhile (at least through March). I'm open to suggestions however, and thought I'd take a poll on days and times, just to see if I'll have a riding partner(s)!
I know there are more of you in other areas that want to night ride as well (Awiner, you have rides out in the West Hills, yes?) and I encourage you guys to set those up, too. I'm sticking with GP since it is close to where I work, and I know I'll be able to make it. I would set a Rose Bowl ride, but for now, I just want to make the rides a quick workout (under 1.5 hours) in the hopes that others will be able to join. The option to have tacos after is there, but doubtfully every ride! (Otherwise, I'll just get fatter and not leaner which defeats the purpose! :p )
Please weigh in if you seriously are considering these rides and I will get this back up and running, hopefully by next week starting on Thursday night! :D

I'll probably only be able to make it 1x/week, but I like the option of either tuesday / thursday. 7 or 7:30 works best for me. Thanks!

I agree with Phil, by the time I get of work and get home to get the bike, 7:30 is the preferred start time. I like Wednesday, but I can do Thursday if that is the choice.

Are you still coming to the night rides? I figured with how far you have to drive, you wouldn't want to anymore. But if you and other OC riders come up, the start time will be 7:30pm for sure.

Well, so far it's looking like 7:30pm (most of you prefer it). I'm looking at Tues/Thurs because I want to ride twice and with gym workouts, I'm trying to spread the rides out. But perhaps, I can do one GP night ride and then ride solo at RB on the fly on another evening not scheduled. If that's the case, I may keep this on Wednesday, just because that was what it was before and no one seems adverse to it. Thanks for your input guys. I'll wait a few more days to see if anyone else wants to weigh in and then I'll put info in the other thread and add these rides to the calendar. :)

I'm up for nite time GP rides Tues. thru Thursday as long as they start at 7:30 I can definitely do at least one night per week and in most cases probably two. I won't be doin the taco thing afterwards because for some reason if I eat after 8 I have trouble sleeping. BTW, if I had to decide on only one nite, it would be Wed.

How long do these rides generally last? I work in Burbank and would be interested in joining up once in a while but also would be riding back to Altadena afterwards and don't want to get home too late.

Well, the ride is typically an hour and a half at most, but he beer and taco consumption keeps us out until midnight sometimes. :eek: However, in 2007, I will be curbing that as I, for one, can't keep that up. But the boys may still do it for sure. And at least once/month, I will. :D

Oh, and since this week is shortened (and I'm sure I'll be working a little later than I'd like), these ride will not start until next week. I'll be getting that thread up shortly. :D
