View Full Version : Kona Jake the Snake - need advice on different bars

I have a 2006 60cm JTS that I'm pretty happy with.

I ride in the drops 95% of the time, and the only problem I've experienced is the bend in the bars is not long enough. It squeezes my hands and leaves them aching. I would love to find a different bar that

- won't change the geometry of the bike much
- won't force me to re-buy any components (like brake levers).

I don't know the specs of the stock bar, so I'm not sure what to shop for. I'll try to get to some local shops, but I don't expect them to have much in stock.

Worst case, I am willing to buy different levers and/or stem if I need to go to a non-oversize bar.

In short, I suppose I'm just looking for a good bar for someone who rides in the drops, on the angles (sorry, I don't know the term), and has larger hands.

Go down to your LBS and pay them to have your bike fitted to you. I did it and will never regret it.
Make sure you find a shop that will take the time to do it correctly. It took about 3 hours for me. It cost me $100 and it was well worth it.
