Iowa is no where near the Great Lakes region of the U.S. so why is it in this part of the regional forums? Did someone get confused in their geography?

I suppose the 'plains' and 'mountains' could be split. ND, SD, NE, IA are pretty similar. But what about MN? They are part of the 'great lakes' but only a small portion actually is near Lake Gitchigumi. Isn't the western part more like the Dakotas?
Does it really matter though? Just as long as you have a forum to call home?

Just think of it as the Big 10 states forum (minus Penn State... but they made it the Big 11, then, didn't they?). And, no, I'm not a Big 10 guy... I went to a school in a higher rated basketball conference.... MVC! ;)
In any case, Joe split up the regions as best he could when they made these subforums. Nothing stops anyone from frequenting or participating in the other regional forums. In fact, it's a lot of fun to do so.
We here in the Chicago area have used the Great Lakes forum to organize and meet up for a few organized centuries, and Psimet2001 even put together the inaugural BFNIC Century/Metric/Half-Metric loop ride back in October. We had a great turnout.
Don't worry about the name of the forum, just enjoy! And if you are truly worried, then send a PM over to Joe Gardner and ask if he can move Iowa over to the Plains section. In any case, we'll be here should you want to talk riding in the upper Midwest!
