I've got a Shimano 3S Three speed hub. As I understand it this is the successor to the 333 and SSS hubs. Not too difficult at the basic level, it comes apart nicely and the modular sections stay together. But the hub had water in it. And there were rust particles mixed in the grease.
So I have two questions for now:
1) I may need to get to the planetary gears to clean them. Can anyone tell me how to get at them without wrecking the hub?
2) What kind of grease should I use? Lithium? Phil Wood? Melted Pig Fat? (jk) Can I mix them? What about that light blue stuff from Park Tools?
3) Does anyone have a diagram of this hub they can send me?
(I can only count to two - after that I'm guessing)
