Hope to purchase this weekend. And the two finalists are:

Lemond Alpe D' Huez ($1279 - Triple)
Specialized Sequoia Expert ($1100 - Triple)

I'll get the one that feels the best for me, but what's your vote? One factor that may sway your vote, I weigh 260 pounds.

I'm leaning toward the Lemond, but I do like the adjustable handlebars, extra set of brake handles, and the suspension seat post on the Specialized.

$1100 sounds like a lot for a Sequoia Sport. I test rode one yesterday for $799. Is the one you're looking at an Expert or Elite? I did like the bike a lot and will probably pick one up for commuting.

Good Luck.

Thats what he said, the expert. Those sequoias are nice.Dont put to much into a sus seatpost, they dont do much but you can always add one.Adjustable handlebars,ok but its not like you will move them all the time. They might help get the ride more dialed in.For longer rides,i would think the sequoia but try both of them.

get the alpe d'huez. It is a sweet bike at a sweet price, with sweet components. However, I would ride both before buying, b/c not only are they very different materials, they are completely different geometries. Lemond has a very long top tube with a steep headtube, while the sequoia has a more lax headtube and a shorter top-tube. It is sort of like you picked two bikes at the complete opposite end of the spectrum form each other. no diss on either, but just saying, the ride will be the real deciding factor.

Rich one is better for longer rides,or which geomerty?

I agree the geometries are the primary difference. You can add a suspension seatpost, adjustable stem, ergo handlebars, and elastomer fork to a traditional frame as well. The Sequoia is set up to put you on a longer wheelbase bike in a more relaxed position.

I just laid one away in place of a Lemond. I rode the Sequoia and it blew me away. It was such a pleasure to ride and will fulfill my needs for a comfortable road bike that I can ride for fitness or longer touring. Just a pleasure to ride...

Either way, you can't go wrong. Both are excellent bikes. Go with what feels best to you and which shop feels best to you, if the bikes are at different shops.

I have never ridden the Lemond so I can't comment. My wife and I just purchased two Sequioa Experts and after several good rides, love them. I'm afraid our tandem, hybrids and mtn bikes are going to see little use this summer. The Specialized is really a nice ride.
