So my wife and I are new residents of Colorado Springs....I have been Mountain Biking for 8 years, her for about 3.....we both have recently dabbed into road biking, been doing it for about 1 year.....we have found good trails for off road.....but I have been trying to scoute some great road routes....we are open to anything, long rides, sprints, group rides, etc....Any one in this area have any input, we would greatly appreciate it....thanks

Yes I have checked out the website....it seems like that may help.....sometimes my wife and I just like to go out with just the two of us.....but I guess we could join and do a few rides with that group every now and then....its always nice to ride with a group once in a while....thanks

I rode around the Springs last summer. The road I liked best was Cascade. It had good visibility, and nice tall trees. It might be a nice trip to take this downtown for lunch at one of the many fine restaurants down there.

A nice ride from downtown goes out Tejon then onto Cheyenne Blvd (or Cheyenne Rd), up to the canyon park visitor center to see the Starr Kemph windmills. Then over 21st St to Old Colorado City and up El Paso Street to Manitou Springs and the west entrance to Garden of the Gods. Through GoG and out the north entrance. Turn left on 30th, then take the hard right turn on Mesa and take Mesa back to Colorado College and lunch at Poor Richard's.

Also, in winter and spring the bike path in Pueblo is a nice ride. Pick it up in downtown and ride out to the Pueblo resv., stop at the Nature Center for a rest and a drink. It is warm when CS is cold, and is much nicer than you think. On the return ride go through City Park and the drive thru zoo, it's neat!!

How far is the first route you mentioned? Sounds nice, I have been on some of that route before.
I would like to try that Pueblo route, I was actually thinking of doing it last fall, and then going to the Chilies, and Frijoles Fest afterwards.

That first ride is maybe 25 miles, and can be extended in several very nice ways. You can start out Nevada Ave and circle up through the Broadmoor area and down Pine Grove street to Cheyenne Canyon park. That can add a few nice miles. Then when you leave Garden of the Gods you can stay on 30th and then along the foothills over to Woodman Valley and back to downtown on the bike path along Fountain Creek.

Spring is an excellent time to ride in Pueblo, it's sunny and warm! I had two little Italian cafes I'd stop at after a ride, so good!
