i ride a specialized hardrock 06 with 24 gears. I recently bent my 3rd and secound chainring and now the chain is rubbing against the rear derailer. I fixed it once but i bottomed out on a log ride and bent it again. My bike shop suggested a bash gaurd on the third ring and replace the other 2 rings with aluminum rings because shifting would be faster and better. It was a whole new crankset for 150. what do you guys think?

What kind of crankset is it? (don't just say "Shimano" or "Truvativ") It makes a big difference in pricing. Could be a good deal though, especially from a shop vs. online.
