I ordered the Nashbar Time Trial levers along with their Time Trial bullhorn handlebar, reading that these were a "perfect match". However, the brake levers don't fit snugly on the end of the bar! There isn't any slot for the bar end to slide into or anything. This is the first time I've attempted to set up a system like this - am I just dense? Am I supposed to attach the lever with tape or something? It doesn't seem that secure that way...

I'm more familiar with bar-end shifters, but the Nasbar time trial brakes appear to have a similar expanding plug arrangement. You probably need to remove the cover to access the expanding bolt, if it's the same as bar-cons, it's kind of reverse threaded.

I see the expanding plug, but the plug doesn't actually plug anything. The entire arrangement just slides into the bar ends. I can unscrew the expanding plug all the way and it just slides into the bar, even. Is the plug supposed to be wider than the diameter of the bar?

Oh, god, I'm dumb. I didn't realize I could TIGHTEN it more, thus spreading the expanding plug. Duh. I love learning this stuff. :D

Good catch! Normally the shift levers have to be rmoved from the base so you can get to the bolt that expands the plug in place. After the bases are tight and oriented properly, you replace the levers.
