Classic & Vintage - '84 Raleigh Team Pro - an unconventional build (and has anyone got a Zeus 2000 FD?)

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I've began the buildup of my '84 Raleigh Team Professional frameset, and as I don't care to scrape up yet another Campagnolo groupset for this machine, I figured I'd build this one up a bit unconventionally - starting with a Zeus 2000 RD (need the matching FD!), and in the hopes of adding the following component mix: black Royal Gran Compe brake calipers, black Galli levers with white engraving, and an Ofmega, Galli or similar Campagnolo knockoff crankset with polished arms and black rings. Probably going to use a black anodized Cinelli 90 or 100mm stem, and my personal favorite for handlebars, a polished aluminum Cinelli Giro D' Italia...with red cotton bar tape.

The Trek 728 donated it's Phil-hub wheelset. Rolls as if you buttered up grease.

Forgive the poor photos:

And the journey begins on another buildup. If any of you fellows might have a suitable crankset that fits the bill, or the Zeus 2000 FD, let me know. Already got a lead on the RGC brake calipers.

Take care,

-Kurt

No Zeus hereabouts, but the contrasting colors should make that bike stand out!

True, I've yet to find a Team Pro that didn't stand out, although I do find the '80s models are a tad indescript in comparison to the '70s machines, particularly those with yellow headtubes.

I figure I'll simply carry the red/black/white theme through the bike, with the black/aluminum components, white outlining of the brakeset, and red handlebar tape. Also hope to find a seatpost with black anodizing on the flutes.

Take care,

-Kurt
