OK put me down for the CAM.
Many of you know me from "bicycling.com", many from rides around so-cal.
I'm gonna use this as a tool to get in shape for the Cal Triple Crown for 07.
See ya on the road...Jim S.
Jim, you are not going to believe this but I was just talking about you the other day as a friend and I were riding past the big ol' new nursery in Moorpark. I was going to call you to see if you were still riding., I am glad to see you are!!

Hey bro!!!
Yea I'm still alive...didn't get to ride as much in 06, but I'm looking forward to more saddle time in 07.
Lets get together for a ride...warning...I'm slow right now

A ride sounds great. I know you moved but are you still in Camarillo?
Any tandem work? Mine got off to a good start but has waned lately, my son prefers to ride a solo bike. Well actually, he prefers running to bicycling altogether but the riding he does do is on a single.
How is your sister?

Yep still in Camarillo...not much on the tandem, my boy finally discovered the BMX scene. Bikerchick is doing well, her bike time was down as well, we're trying to motivate each other for 07.
I thought about stopping by your house several times, but couldn't remember exactly where it is.
You still logging lots of LD miles?

I am still riding a lot but I don't measure anymore. More ride for fun and fitness these days.

Come on, Jim! Join the challenge - you ride every day, so surely you can log 100 mile ride once a month! :D
My brother lives in Camarillo, but I don't know how much road work he still does. I should get him hooked up with the VTA crowd, to get him motivated.

The way I understood it was we start at 0/12 (starting this month - January. When you complete 1 for January, you will be 1/12), and 12/12 would be the total (if you did do 1 a month). If you missed a month, you would be 11/12 and so on. Does that sound right?
3 Great Ideas!!!!!!
1) 0/12 for the start point and at the end of the year 12/12.
2) Earning a jersey for completing 1 per month is also a good idea. And we have a full year to figure out the design.
3) A year end party where everyone is invited would be fun.

Awesome!
Ok, I am in...
I planned a century route (dubbed IE Century #2) for the last Sunday in January - solo ride, with a metric (more like 70 mile) bailout if I am not quite ready - it will be a MAJOR challenge to get to 100 by the end of January - even a metric will be a big accomplishment...
BTW I did palm springs full century 108 miles with my longest ride being 40 miles two years ago - but 40 miles was easy... right now I am at about 25 - 30 miles realitivly easy - so we get there... :)

This may be the first documented violation of the 2007 "no sandbagging" resolution.
Personally I am very disappointed. I had predicted that the rule would be broken within minutes of Midnight, but it took over 11 hours! :D

It doesn't count because BKD didn't know (he is new to this forum). So, technically, no one has broken it...YET. :p
Oh, and way go, Scott and John! I'll add you both to the CAM list. :D

Hmmm...that's a good question. I suppose we could make the person take a shot of tequila for every month he/she misses. Of course, that isn't really a penalty, now is it? :p I'm not mean enough to want to punish anyone if they don't succeed. Just attempting CAM is what this is all about (getting people to ride centuries and challenging each other).:)

Count me in! I guess I better plan a Jan. century since I'm not doing Stagecoach. Maybe a modified Cruzin the Conejo or a modified Cool Breeze?

You just wanna break in that new trainer. I don't know if I could take the same Spinerval for 100 miles.

Why don't we do a ride down 126 up to the summit on 150 and back? That will give us a 100 miler for January.

To the ranger station on Dennison? On the back instead of 126, how about mountain road/guiberson/126/home?
