Today during a quick high paced ride to get ready for a race on Sunday Weird Al's "Pretty Fly for a Rabbi" got suck in my head, I haven't heard that song in years! That was the only thing in my head the entire ride, it was killing me, and I knew maybe 10 words. I tried everything to get it out of my head, talked to myself, tried to think of any other song, even started repeating license plate numbers that passed me, but it kept coming back! I usually have a good fast paced angry song that keeps the ride fast in my head, not today, I just had "Our temple's had fair share of rabbis in the past, but most of them..." AHHHHHH!

What has been the most annoying song that you've had in your head during a ride?

BTW if on your next ride this song pops into your head because you read this, I'm very sorry.

Lately, I would have to say that it was "Old McDonald Had a Farm". The other day I got stuck in Atlanta traffic with my niece so we started singing that song and making up silly animal names and silly animal sounds to go with them. It was a lot of fun. But, then I hopped on the bike and that song kept popping back into my head...I made the best of it by making up silly animal names for the cars and even sillier sounds for the drivers. Sure the people in the neighborhood thought it odd for me to make those sounds as I rode past their houses, but that's OK because I don't live here!

A song by the Aussie band - Divinals - Pleasure and Pain.

It's very appropriate on long rides with the chorus, "It's a fine line between pleasure and pain, you've done it once, you can do it again, whatever you did, don't try to explain, it's a fine, fine line between pleasure and pain."

I don't really mind it being in my head because it's sort of my theme song on long rides.

I couldn't say where it came from but one time riding through Boca I started humming a Frank Zappa tune 'Jewish Princess'off of "Sheik Yerbouti" you know the one that goes( I want a blank little Jewish Princess With blank blank blank ).You can be creative filling in the blanks though Frank was pretty creative himself. My favorite line may be(A horny little Jewish Princess With a garlic aroma that could level Tacoma)though that may just be because its one of the few lines suitable for printing.

Toronto Tonto's, BY Max Webster. I had the opening lyric stuck in my head on a trip downtown.

And I quote:" Bonjour aux amie de malheur, nous sommes fous!"

Probibly one of the weirdest songs recorded along with Hocus Pocus, by Focus.

But If you are trying to get any song out of your head, I find Jingle Bells works.

But then again, only the "Smurf Song" can remove "Jingle Bells"

MONKEES' THEME SONG
The Monkees

Here we come
Walking down the street
we get the funniest looks from
everyone we meet.

Hey, hey we're the Monkees,
and people say we monkey around.
But we're too busy singing,
to put anybody down.

We go wherever we want to,
do what we like to do.
We don't have time to get restless,
There's always something new.

Hey, hey we're the Monkees,
and people say we monkey around.
But we're too busy singing,
to put anybody down.

We're just trying to be friendly,
come watch us sing and play.
We're the young generation,
and we got something to say.

Hey, hey we're the Monkees,
You never know where we'll be found.
So you'd better get ready,
We may be coming to your town.

Hey, hey we're the Monkees,
and people say we monkey around.
But we're too busy singing,
to put anybody down.

With a 3 month old baby at home, I am sure that it won't be too long before "Fruit Salad" (yummy yummy!) sung by The Wiggles will be too pervasive to chase out of my mind!

At least the Sponge Bob Square Pants theme song is less annoying!

Recently, I had "the banana splits song" stuck in my head. Also, I found myself singing aloud, "Mama looka booboo!" OFten it's sort of nonsense songs like that.

Just lately it's been Salmon Hater's "6.66". Annoying because I only know the chorus:

"six point six six... is one hundredth... of the number... of the beast!"

For those who don't know, Salmon Hater are a rather obscure fish-metal band from Glenelg.

That song by No Doubt - goes "Hey baby, Hey Baby, Hey"

That song makes me want to shoot myself, or dive in front of the oncoming Mack truck!

I'd have to say it was "Blister In the Sun" by the Violent Femmes. Second place goes to "Alice's Restaurant" by Arlo Guthrie.

Heck, Alice's Restaurant will last you half of your ride!!

I'd like my lobotomy now, if you don't mind.;)

I wouldn't say it's annoying. Usually the music stuck in my head is what I was listening to before hitting the trail. And I always listen to loud music before I hit the trail. Deftones, Tool, Slipknot, etc. Today I had "Opiate" by Tool stuck in my head :D

While not the most annoying song to have ever gone through my head it was the most memorable of such experiences. .. On a particularly long ride about 12 years ago, out in the middle of nowhere somewhere in Iowa, REM's "Stand" kept playing over and over in my head... for about 120 miles.

I believe that there was a study that found
over 1/2 of the male population of the U.S.
aged 35 thru 65 have In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida running through
their heads at any one given time.
The ones that get stuck in my head are:

The turning away - Pink Floyd (not bad).

"aint that just the way that life goes down down down ..."
(I have NO idea who sings it, its just THERE).

Queen of my castle - wamdu project

and the worst is that Disney song, yeah THAT one
someone mentioned it before and I had to go
hit my thumb with a hammer to get it out!

I have to laugh at threadend. The Monkeys Theme is the song I get stuck in my head while I'm on the tractor. I think my worst cycling experience was with "Oom bop" or whatever it is by that group that I have purposely forgotten the name to.
Fortunately, I don't have a cell phone, but I pity the fool who gets a cell phone jingle stuck in their head.

I'm actually a fan of Johnny Cash. The band Live does a creepy, killer cover of "I Walk the Line." It's on a tribute compilation CD called "Good Rockin' Tonight: The Legacy of Sun Records" with a bunch of other good covers.

Last ride I think it was "Baby Love" that started playing on my mental jukebox and would NOT STOP!!! :crash:

It's a great song and one that I usually enjoy, but we did a Century about a year ago when it got into my head and I just couldn't get it out...

Jimmy Buffett - I Will Play For Gumbo
From - Beach House On the Moon

I don't smoke, I don't shoot smack
But I got a spicy monkey riding on my back
Don't eat beignets, too much sugar and dough
But I will play for gumbo
Hey, I will play for gumbo

It started at my Grandma's kitchen by the sea
She warned me when she told me "son the first one's free"
It hit me like a rock or some Taikwondo
Cause I will play for gumbo
Oh, yeah, I will play for gumbo

A piece of French bread with which to wipe my bowl
Good for the body, good for the soul
It's a little like religion and a lot like sex
You should never know when you're gonna get it next

At midnight in the Quarter or noon in Thibadeaux
I will play for gumbo
Yes, I will play for gumbo

I'm not talking quesadillas or a dozen Krispy Kremes
Or a pile of caviar, that's a rich man's dream
No banana split or filet of pompano
No, I will play for gumbo
Yeah, I will play for gumbo

A piece of French bread with which to wipe my bowl
Good for the body, good for the soul
It's a little like religion and a lot like sex
You should never know when you're gonna get it next

It could be it's that sausage or those pretty pink shrimp
Or that popcorn rice that makes me blow up like a blimp
Maybe it's that voodoo from Marie Laveaux
But I will play for gumbo
Hey, I will play for gumbo

The sauce boss does his cookin' on the stage
Stirrin' and a singing for his nightly wage
Sweating and a frettin' from his head to his toe
Playin' and swayin' with the gumbo
Prayin' and buffetin' with the gumbo

A piece of French bread with which to wipe my bowl
Good for the body, good for the soul
It's a little like religion and a lot like sex
You should never know when you're gonna get it next

At midnight in the Quarter or noon in Thibadeaux
I will play for gumbo
Hey, I will play for gumbo

I will play for gumbo
I will play for gumbo
