Coupon Forum - Nashbar and Performance Hot Deals

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Once in a while there are some great deals on those sites - thought it would be useful to point them out in a separate thread.

Adidas road shoes at nashbar on sale for $40, retail $180. I went ahead and got myself some. I'll holler if they're crappy shoes.

I got them too. A little too narrow for what I'm used to, but I hope they stretch. I ended up completely removing the lacing mechanism; the zipper is good enough to hold my feet in pretty securely. Seems like they might make a very cheap and good set of triathlon shoes... just slip your foot in, zip up and go.

Ordered these 2 weeks ago in a size 11. They were too small and I was too busy to call nashbar to exchange them until today. Sadly, they said they were sold out on 11.5 and 12. This sucks....... Do you guys think that the shoes will stretch out enough? Right now they were just snug on my fat wide feet and the zipper would zip up to a centimeter from the top. Wondering if I can keep them or if I should just return them. :(

I've got to say a couple things about that Topeak seat bag. I bought one about 8 months ago, thinking the same thing, that it's a great deal. Even at MSRP, it's only $35. However, about a month ago I went over a pothole, and the bag broke. The piece of plastic at the top of the bag broke from the bag itself. Apparently it's just glued on. I've still got all the tools, so it's not a total loss, but they aren't the highest quality tools either. Jsut my 2 cents.

I've had a pair of these for a little while. Personally, I like that they are narrower. I knew that Adidas made narrower shoes and that is partly why I bought them (that and they were on sale for almost nothing). They are VERY breathable. Great summer shoes. My only complaint is that they have a strange fastening system. It's basically a lace system that secures with a little plastic piece. Then it's all covered up with a zipper. I can never get them tight enough, and they seem to loosen a bit as you ride. Otherwise, for the money, I think they are definatley worth it.
May i ask a question? Is Nashbar.com part of Performancebike.com? Or they are sharing their customer service team?
Me and my friend having problems with our orders from both sites. My friend's order got lost somewhere in their database, the order ID he has is invalid/non existent in Performance Bike. Jill (the customer service officer from perf bike) told my friend that, they managed to trace his order, and shipping will require 4 to 8 weeks.
The same Jill, emailed me, on behalf of Nashbar.com, telling me, they are holding my order as they can't ship the cycling pants i ordered to Malaysia.
I really can't figure the logic in this. :(
p/s: sorry for my bad english.

Nashbar,Performance, and Supergo (now defunct) are all owned by the same company that bought them out several years ago. Their customer service has always been satisfactory for me; perhaps their overseas orders aren't handled as efficiently. However, Probikekit located in UK offers superb overseas orders/shipments. Good luck.
Thanks Crank It Up.
Nashbar insisted they do not ship to Malaysia, while PerformanceBike confirmed the shipping to Malaysia. I guess i need to find my way to solve this.
Thanks again.

For many orders outside of the USA they want a scan or photocopy of BOTH sides of your credit card and an ID such as a passport. I canceled an order when they asked for this as I don't feel very secure with a copy of my credit card floating around their office.....

Agreed on probikekit.com; pricing is good, service is good and they only took a week to get my stuff to me, from the UK to Texas, that's damn good. Groupo prices and especially wheel prices are particulary good.
Don't even get me started on performancebike. Email customer service has been clueless many many times, to the point where I didn't even renew my team membership. Too often orders would get messed up, something I ordered turns out not to be in stock even though it wasn't listed that way, or I didn't get proper points on my team membership. I just got a feeling of customer service there with little knowledge and a pretty low-tech company for a mainly internet based one. My 2 cents...

Is this for real?
This has got to be a mistake, $99 for both the shoes and the pedal combo??? I dont see a spot to select the shoe size. Under options it says 39, so I am guessing that is the shoe size. I need a 44 :(
