basically, you can now get a feed. you use a feed reader, such as google reader, and subscribe. when the thing you subscribe to gets updated, it is read through your feed reader. kind of like a universal subscription service.

RSS is amazing, I'm sure its new to 99% of the forum members, but I think 2007 is going to be the year of syndicated content.

I fallow 7 individual forums here with RSS. I have a total of 18 blogs and forums in my RSS reader. I use NewsFire (http://www.newsfirerss.com/) for my RSS reader, you can find a list of good RSS readers here: http://blogspace.com/rss/readers

I also use RSS for my screensaver. The last 15 threads created in the mods corner continually rotate in RSS visualizer (http://homepage.mac.com/wysz/iblog/C47259402/E2009854725/index.html).

Lastly, I use RSS to show the last 15 threads on bikeforums.net on the bikeforums.com domain. If you have a blog or website, you can easily include bikeforums.net content on your webpage. I'll post more information on how to do that in the future. I'm still learning the RSS ropes. :)

You can also use firefox to as a feed reader with it's "Live Bookmarks" feature. You won't get as much to the minute information as you will with a standard reader or google reader but it can still come in handy. Using live bookmarks and the bookmarks toolbar folder can keep it clean looking and easy to access.

For example.
