anyone watching the “Classic Album” series on VH1?
Each show dissects a classic album and interviews the band members, producers, engineers. You get a bit of history, insight into the songs, feel for the climate of the time, and a new appreciation for the music.
Very well done. I haven’t seen a bad one, mediocre even, yet. Even if I’m not a fan of the particular album, it’s still worth watching.
My favorite part of the show is when the engineer sits at the mixing board and turns down certain parts of the track and turns up others. You can hear what the drums are doing with the vocals and guitars turned down. They always highlight interesting parts.
Dark Side of the Moon was great. Last night I watch “The Band” Also great. My favorite moment was when the camera turned on Garth Hudson for what I assume was to be an interview. The dude is full tilt looney and just played his organs. Awesome.
