Well I just finished putting everything on, and it all looks great. Will be taking the time tomorrow to adjust the deraileurs, and will play with the rear brake to set it in a good spot until I can get the rear wheel trued. Will take some pictures to post tomorrow as well. Just so you know, I put on Shimano XT shifters and rear deraileur and Avid Arch Rival brakes. Can't wait for the weather to clear up so I can test everything out.

They feel solid for me. The only problem is intermittent squeal on the front, but other than that it's working great! I like the Speed Dial handles where you can set when the brakes work according to your preference. The "brake booster" deals that look like horseshoes supposedly do something but I think they just look cool. :D

I had no trouble on the initial ride, but it was a leisurely ride with my dad. The brakes are good, although not very well tested. The shifters are the greatest thing ever! The shifts are shorter and easier, and the whole bike seems to just ride better. I think the old deraileur may have been bad longer than I realized, because pedaling even seems easier. I'm wondering if the jockey wheels weren't spinning as easily as they should have. It could also be the XT rear deraileur runs better, or even just a purely mental thing. Overall, I feel that all the purchases were good ones.
