Advocacy & Safety - Important: Must read!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Nope, someone from Joisey getting cute with his Hawkeye comrade.
Presumably not everybody lives in a garden in the Garden State.

Reminds me of when I was a kid, the 70's must have been a slow news day for WKBW's
eye witless (er witness) news, where day after day they talked about fires in Tonawonda and Batavia, I thought the whole city of Buffalo was constantly on fire, kinda like after your picture. :D
Of course now they have muggings, rapings, knifings and shootings like every other American city....

Sometimes I get tired of all of the bikeiowa posts that relate to no one but NC and it makes me do crazy things like post more useless bikeiowa links.

I'm with you about the endless cross posting of bikeiowa dross from one poster.

How do you think they relate to no one but me? Neither my real or user name is any of them. Most of them are not about things happening in my immediate community, except if it is something that affects the whole state of Iowa. So before you go accusing me of **** maybe you should actually try to read the articles on bikeiowa.

When I want to read bikeiowa articles, I'll go to their website.

Well, that's just ridiculous. Everyone knows that Des Moines is planted with soybeans.

haha. i'm actually in Newark right this second. it's where i work. downtown isn't so bad. the city is supposed to be experiencing a boom right now. and i guess i see evidence of it, but still has a ways to go. big chains are starting to move in (starbucks, for example). now would be a great time to invest in real estate here.

Okay, so you got me. They don't relate to just you. They relate to the other person who lives in Iowa. I have had the misfortune to read many of the bikeiowa links and they are a wonderful resource for those living in those communities, but are pretty much useless for 99.9% of the people here.
I could see if someone posted some sort of bikeNewYorkCity links since around 10 million people live there and another 10 million in the surrounding communities, but Iowa just doesn't have the same audience. The links are also very specific to those communities that they affect. I can see how perhaps two or three of the articles in a YEAR would apply to most of us, but there most certainly can't be two or three a day that are relevent.

I'll still post them if I feel the need to. If you don't like it tough ****, deal with it. Here's a clue, don't read them. You probably wish I'd stop posting them right? Well here's the solution to that, wish in one hand & **** in the other & see which one fills up first.

It's no joke - my girlfriend spent 3 months in Iowa this summer, and every picture except for about 10 had corn in them, and those 10 were from the weekend she drove to Chicago :P

My brother spent a year there after he graduated from college. According to him, it was all "pigs and corn and heavy-set women*". After a year living there he moved back to Dallas.
* His description of the women was somewhat more colorful as I recall, but this is a family forum. :D

Having lived in Iowa for a year, it's been amusing reading some of these posts. Especially because also I've been to Redding, CA and Norman, OK.

I went to Drake and actually thought Des Moines was pretty nice. Its big enough to have lots of restraunts and other things to do, but small enough that you can get to downtown. You can actually get cheap tickets to the I-cubs games and if you want to you can take about a 10 min drive and you'll find yourself out of any congestion. Granted things might have changed in the last 10 years...
