Mountain Biking - I crashed in front of some girls today :o

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

:o

I was riding on campus, hitting some urban assault stuff. I came bombing down a hill, hit a jump, and then proceed to head towards another jump. Apparently the second jump was not a jump at all, but a drainage ditch. In order to avoid and insanely nasty crash, I had to bail and turn the bike HARD to the right. I went skidding through the grass/dirt and came sliding to a halt very close to the ditch. There were a bunch of girls sitting on a picnic tables with their jaws wide open (Perhaps it was my beautiful physique :D ) just staring at me. I said "Oh..... there's a ditch there." And then proceeded to ride away. I felt like such an ass :p

I almost met the ground again today. I was going along a nice straight paved bike trail around 15 mph and was checking out this girl's butt. I then proceeded to ride right off the sidewalk and almost crashed. Thankfully I got a foot down in time or Iwould have looked like even more of an idiot.

Oh well, beats what my dad did when he was my age. He was driving along and was checking out a girl with large "assets" jogging and crashed into the town tree, killing it. :)

Er... I forgot we're talking about riding :o

Girls on the trail / campus are a fire hazard. You can try not to look, but you'll fail. In fact, trying not to look just makes you look more. Next thing you know you're feet-up against someone's car. If you're lucky they'll come over and ask if you're alright, but then they think you road the short bus to school in your youth.

Isn't it the standard thing after an incident like that to say, "I meant to do that"?

You probably just surprised them. But speaking of women, isn't it the most beautiful thing to watch a woman performing some type of activity? A few weeks ago I was driving after picking up my son at school, there was this beautiful woman on a time trial bike. ( I did notice the bike to) She had great derriere with the most perfect legs I've ever seen I wish my legs were in that good a shape! Okie I got off-track, but I bet there is not one guy in the world who has not done something embarassing in front of a beautiful woman.

A tree, falling in the forest when no one is near, may make a sound. Who knows?

A crash, without witnesses, just doesn't count. If the women hadn't been there, would this story even be worth telling?

I firmly believe if the girls hadn't been there he wouldn't have crashed at all. Murphy's law has to come into play here somehow... :)

To use your sig, you could have said:-

"Now that I've finally got your attention, I'm now accepting applications for the perfect girlfriend. Many will enter, few will win.."

well at least there WAS a ditch, so u can be somehow excused:D, in my case it was far worse, i crashed in front of a very good looking girl... on a straight road! beats me how i did that. and i was doing some 20 miles/h so when i skidded on asphalt i peeled some:D so she comes to me and asks if im all right, looks at hmmm... that red stuff coming from my ankles, hands and knee, dripping at a decent rate... and thats the last ive seen of her. probably shes still got nightmares cuz of me:D shame on me!

Doooooh! If I'm ever in that situation (and I'm sure that I will be!), I'm taking that line. :D

Oh, no doubt a cool crash. In fact, I'd even say I enjoyed it. No damage... except to my pride :o

Hey Sam... did you ever decide if you're gonna make it to the Festival?

A crash, without witnesses, just doesn't count. If the women hadn't been there, would this story even be worth telling?

hey guys. i've had FIVE crashes in the last week - crashed attempting a drop last monday in italy - hurt my right hand. crashed thursday on the bike path when a kid ran in front of me (another thread) and hurt my right wrist. then saturday i went headover-bars down a rock cliff, scraping my right thigh, my left forearm and bicep and hurting my left pinky/hand. then Sunday in my race in Austria i crashed twice and cut my left eyebrow (the blood running down my face was kind of cool see for a photo this thread http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=25877

anyway, for NONE of these crashes were any girls around - and most of them i was by myself which sucks. i mean if i'm going to crash i might as well have some spectators! and the girl i'm interested in didn't see any of them (for one crash she showed up a few minutes later but i was way ahead on the trail, but there was no blood or anything)

anyhow, i think pretty much any girl i'd be interested in would find it at least somewhat interesting if i crashed - and hey, it can be a great way to meet a chick too - it's always nice to have a girl saying "oh, let me see. are you all right? oh, i'll clean you up..." while you're like "oh, yeah, it's no biggie. i'll be fine it's just a little scrape and some blood" (no matter how bad it really is)

This is nothing new you know. back in the days of Ra-Ra skirts, I ran into the back of a parked car while cycling as I was looking over at this absolute vision in a white and blue polka-dot Ra-Ra (She would have made a bishop kick a stained glass window in).

Very embarassing. Thats the best part of 20-25 years ago. :)
