i waited for that weekend, me n some other guys were to hit trails today... and its raining! and it was sunny mon -fri:(
hmm, two weeks ago it was like that too, but i went for a ride, with all that mud i couldnt get uphill and ended up with cold afterwards, so i dont think ill do it again today.
BTW, Just wondering, is there anyone here who waits for such conditions to go riding when its pouring ? :D i mean i know mud is good stuff:D but i prefer it when moisture stays on the ground ya know...:)
Take a rain jacket and don't wear socks.

Ok...its raining here too...just go out and ride and enjoy the mud...don't be afraid of it :)
If it is pouring I actually don't ride so I don't damage the trails. That always my main concern in wet conditions.

Be thankful it's raining...at least you can still ride in it! I'm looking out my window at 30 - 40 cm of fresh SNOW on the ground and it's still coming down! I hate these freak spring snow storms! Just last week I had ridden 70 miles and then bam...everything comes grinding to an abrupt halt.
*sigh* must.....be....patient....arghhhhhh....:(
Rain is not a problem. In fact I welcome it during the summer. When I'm cranking up a hill and the sun is trying it's best to beat me to the ground a little rain is nice. I ride rain or shine. In fact I love riding in the rain. All that mud and water... so much fun :)
I'm one of those few people who actually NEEDS disc brakes :p

Take a trip a little further west and you can ride full time...ride up until 8:30 now :)

A little off topic but whats the riding like in Whistler?
I had two weeks snowboarding there earlier this year and loved the place. And if the riding is good as well...
What i would give to live somewhere like that :(

Phenomonal....the xc is rough. Some manmade stuff but nothing like the shore. I rode here all last year and never on the mountain and I maybe rode 10% of the possible trails. This doesn't even include pemberton / Squamish / Northshore riding. You are also within 3 hrs of Nelson (best madmade riding in the world imo) and 8 hours of KickingHorse/Golden (some of the most extreme dhilling in north america)
I could go on about the mountain too but really it is HUGE and tonnes of runs. They are even setting up a new run from Peak which will be sick. Manmade, steep, 4 or 5 different type of terrain just on the mountain alone.
You also have the bike club, municipality and the mountain all working together to ensure trail maintenance and expansion as well as environmental concerns. Very cool environment.
In short...the riding is good ;)
When it rains, it pours....
It's sunny and no clouds here, for once. Chicago with sun and low humidity? Those words are rarely used in the same sentence in our town!
Too bad about the bad weather. Don't worry... before too long, you'll have weather as good as what we're experiencing right now.
Summertime's a-comin'!

Get a work permit. A lot of people stay for 1 year and thats it. Most places hire without any problems because we know people come for the sport and leave.

I am...and depending on how busy it is we may be hiring in the fall or spring...but right now it is SLOW!!!...my hours have been cut and one of us has been laid off. No biggy though...extra day of riding and a little less cash...its all good :)
If you do plan for it email me and I can see if I can help you find residence and a job. I work for 14 hotels up here with a lot of staff accomodation and am friendly with HR so I might be able to help,

Not to be too picky or anything but the only way you're getting to Nelson in 3 hrs from Whistler is if you're either Superman or have your own helicopter. :D Even if you're driving like a madman, it's still a 3 hour drive from Kelowna to Castlegar and another 30 minutes to Nelson from Castlegar.
But you're absolutely right...the riding in the Interior, the Kootenays and the Rockies is some of the best you'll ever ride.
Hahaha Alberta....hahaha...the snow desert of Canada...
The sun came out this afternoon and starting melting some of that nasty stuff away! :)
