Haven't seen a thread on these items recently, so what do you use for gloves and handlebar tape?

I used a pair of Ozumi Gel fingerless gloves for a couple of years, but they got progressively more stiff with age. I switched to a similar gel glove sold by Performance and they have lasted into this third season without any stiffing. I like them quite a bit and they are relatively inexpensive when purchased on the twofer deals.

I use Cinelli bartape and have purchased but not used (yet) their new gel bartape. Anyone have any experience with this tape?

Sun just popped out from behind the clouds so time to go ride.

cinelli tape as well and bare handed. once you've gone bare you'll never go back.

I have the cinelli gel bar tape to, I just have not installed it yet.

Right now I use Assos prosline (I think that is right one) gloves, and standard Cinelli bar tape on one, and look carbon look bar tape on the other.

I double wrap with Cinelli cork tape & ride with Pearl Izumi white line gloves.

Let us know how the gel tape works, I also noticed that PI just came out with a new gel glove.

As KennethToronto says, pavement burn on your hands hurts. I would never race without gloves because of this. It's also worth noting that for me gloves mainly depend on temperature. In the winter I use pearl izumi inferno's or the cannondale windproof gloves, for fall/spring riding I use thin gore windstoppers, and for summer I will either go bare or use specialized BG gel gloves. For longer rides I always try and take some gloves because otherwise my wrists can start to suffer.

Bar tape wise, I've only used cinelli which I like a lot, I have it on three bikes at the moment. I've heard bad things about the gel tape whereby it just squidges and then provides no real effective barrier.

As for no tape, I think thats fine and does look cool on fixie's for riding around the city, but for long rides particularly when it's cold (bare bars suck the heat from your hands like a heatsink).

Again it's like most things in biking, your own personal style preferences versus comfort. Each to their own

Ritchey cork tape for me - it's what came on the bike. I don't wear gloves but have been considering getting me some.

Cinelli cork tape, overwrapped with old time nylon tape (2 colors) in a diamond weave, and Schwinn leather palmed fingerless gloves. Style and function! :)

I use the Cinelli gel tape and love it. I used to use the Pearl Izumi White Line II gloves. I got tired of the sweat drying on the leather and stiffening them up and humidity making them always feel wet. Switched over to the Trek Club Rider gloves which have a fabric palm and back. Best gloves I've owned and cheaper that the Pearls.

I've got the Profile tape and Specialized BG Pro gloves. Works for me.

Profile Design bar tape (looked red in the store, looks lobster pink on the bike) is very comfortable so far, but has only been on the bike for a couple of weeks.
Gloves are Bell Pro gel, got them for half price last year, won't last much longer this year, will have to replace them soon with something better.

I use the new cinelli gel bar tape and it is soooo nice, and for gloves I wear the axo altis they are not to bulky just perfect for my large hands. I have to wear an x-large so I am picky on how much padding is in the palms to keep hands from going numb.

the back of my hand, or my forearm. it's alot easier to clean those in the shower, than to have to wash your gloves every time you get snot juice on them ;)

I like Cinelli bar tape(black) and for gloves I like a few that include Trek Moby Gel, Trek Club, PI White Line II.

I like black tape because it does not show dirt and I don't have to clean as often.

I user cinelli tape with full fingered gloves. If I skid down the pavement, I don't want my fingers bare

Cinelli bar tape and some Specialized gloves that need to be replaced, but they're so well worn in that I can't get rid of them. I had Profile tape before, but like the Cinelli that I put on earlier in the spring.

Now if the wind will just calm down, i'll be able to use that tape some more.

i use profile tape on my cross and road bikes, and whatever gloves i have handy -- i'm not that picky about gloves. but i always wear gloves.

deliriou5: sleeves are good for snot [when you have long sleeves], but if you don't wear gloves, how do you wipe your tires after you go over glass or debris? doesn't that hurt? :)

crashing is like fire: you need to stop....drop...and roll....

did you ever go to a rest stop at a century ride and see the snot and sweat filled gloves wade through the food? gross.

Cinelli tape with handlebar padding off a beach cruiser under it, and a pair of Specilized gloves that are yellow so motorists can see my hand signals.
