Myself and two others are headed down to Limon, Costa Rica from Portland, OR. We have researched routes and found one easily through the states but after that we are having a lack of good info. Any suggestions for publications/websites we could read or routes you have personally travelled through central america. Mexico? Down the Baja Pennisula I hear is nice, because of the tailwind? Anyways, thanks for any help in advance.

Check out the "Dave through the Americas" thread in the hosted travelogues section at the top of the touring forum. There may be some route suggestions there. My two cents would be to plan it country by country (and in Mexico state by state) once you arrive. Enjoy the experience, talk to locals, and learn about the "off the beaten path" routes. There's always the Pan American highway, but I wouldn't want to share the road with buses so often.
