On a bicycle tour what do you want to see the least?

Hooray- Only 74 miles to go and then I can have a breakfast.

That's the kind of sign I love to see when I'm driving my Integra.

That looks like the sign on PCH in Monterey, heading south through Big Sur. Am I right?

Around here, if you see a sign like that you've usually got some climbing to do......

The butt and backside of someone else unless there is a tough headwind, then they are most welcome

Here's a couple I'd really hate to see! Impossible of course but think about it!

At which point, I turn around, go home and get one of the motorcycles, because here's living proof that God Loves Me.

You've got a good eye. That's the sign that doesn't mean back and forth but 74 miles of UP DOWN UP DOWN UP DOWN - MAMA!

As an observation, I have noticed that she has freckles on her butt, she's pretty.

Has to be the best Photo posted on the forum- Just as long as BP doesn't spout on about the photography. Again. Just leave us to our delusions and aspirations as we climb Mt. Ventoux.

And when they say "No Services" - they mean NO SERVICES - of any kind, period. And this is going across the Utah desert starting at Green River.

I know, I've been out there in a truck. Crossing that by bike, I'd carry a 5 gal container in the bike trailer, I guess.

And, there are not what one might call "alternative routes," either! Salina is the next town, 100 miles down the road.:D

That's brutal all right. Of course, the salt flats are something else too. I actually went to high school in Wendover Utah. It’s hot, flat, and nothing grows there. I wonder if anyone has done the salt flats ride in the summer. You could do it with support.

I was in the Ozarks 35 years ago on an old state highway and saw a squiggly arrow sign with another below it that said something like "No Passing Zones Not Marked Next 45 Miles - Passing Not Recommended" :)

I've seen cyclists riding across the I 80 shoulder unsupported with Bob Trailers, riding solo. Support isn't so critical, because there are motorists and cell service all the way across. 20 miles in there is the scale house and rest area and also at 70 miles into the ride, so water is even available fairly available. Also, in the Summer, if traveling east, you generally have a strong tailwind to help.

Yep that is true. You can ride unsupported if you have room on your bike for water and food. There is a cool story about a dude named Bill Rashel who tried to cross the Salt Flats on a bicyle in 1896. He was the toughest guy you ever saw.

Rode a Honda 160 through there in 1968 when I was 17. Price, Utah to L.A in two days. No interstate on this route then.

Rode my CB-1100-F through this exact route about 4 years ago. 100+ Yuck. Absolutely stunning scenary though. Would like to spend a week just poking around here.

When I've been fortunate enough to have the extended time needed for a bicycle tour the thing I've dreaded seeing the most was the end destination. I've always had a fantasy of having someone pay me to ride my bike all day.....
