So I daddy got a new pair of shoes for Christmas, after 3 years my Sidi Hi-Tech's were getting a bit worn so I asked Santa Wife for pair of close out Ergo 1 carbon's in silver. I ended up with Ergo's in white but that's not so bad...right?
For the last 18 years I've only worn Sidi's (with a very brief flirtation with DMT's) and I've been very pleased with the fit and performance. The Ergo's have taken all that to a new level. Compared to my Hi-Tech's the Ergo's have to be 50-60% stiffer, it's really a marked difference. The fit is standard Sidi fit, which for me is just about custom. I rate these at 5 out of 5 on both performance and price (they were on sale for $297.00).
I also re-wrapped my bars in Fizik bar tape. I'm a white bar tape freak and keeping either Deda or Cinelli tape clean is nearly impossible. The Fizik tape is made from something called microtex and it's A) easy to clean and B) pretty grippy when wet. I also love the old school look of the perforations. The only con I can think of would those of you like a padded feel to your tape, after going with this thin tape I'll never go with a thick tape again. Again I give this product a solid 5 of 5 on both performance and price.
Had to replace my watter bottle cages as well, my Taxc Tao's had finally given up after years of service. I bought some C'dale al cages cause my LBS had them in stock and they were both light and cheap. I give them a solid 5 on price and weight but only 3.75 on performance. They aren't as deep as the Tao's and the rear makes it difficult to get a large water bottle in and out.
