Southern California - The Highlight thread

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

What was the highlight of you ride, or maybe even just the highlight of your day?
Today for me it was completing a ride that I did before in over 4 hours, today I extended it a bit and finished in the same ride time.

My highlight would be meeting IamTim, getting together for a ride. Turned out to be a "Golden" guy!

On my TnT ride, one of the pace group leaders was pushing the pace and my group had it's best ride yet. We stayed in pacelines, had very few gaps, and we were hammering, regularly staying over 20mph.
We also rode La Tuna Canyon for my first time ever. To be honest, I was a little disappointed, I was expecting more of a climb. The lack of pain on that stretch was also a highlight.
All in all, great day on the bike!

No riding today, but the highlight of my day was being able to drive, wash the dishes, and do more of the everyday activities I haven't been able to do since I crashed and my right arm has been in a sling for the better part of 2 weeks. My right shoulder still feels very sore/stiff and my range of motion/arm strength is limited, but progress is progress.
Not crashing.
Hey...you stole my line! Really...considering I went down two weekends in a row :o it was truly nice to stay upright today. :p

You only won because I pulled my nipple and you know it. And before anyone gets all bent out of shape about this post, I really did pull my nipple and I'm sure there is a medical term for it! :D

I'm sure that one can pull their own nipple if they want, but generally some else does it for you. In any case pulling it in the middle of an arm wrestling match seems like odd timing

How about this? From obgyn.net
Q: For the past 2 weeks my left breast really aches. It is more toward my armpit and the pain seems to be more underneath the breast tissue. It does not hurt to touch but it hurts when I breath or move in certain directions. I have sustained no injury to my ribs so I really don't know what the deal is. I never have achy breasts before my period. What can this be?
A: Pain that is elicited with movement may be due to injury or strain to underlying muscles, ribs, cartilage, or connective tissue, as you suspect. If you have recently been moving heavy things, been picking up a child frequently, been exercising heavily (especially upper body), or have been performing other activities that may contribute to strain, it may be the cause. If the pain persists, or if you develop additional symptoms, have your doctor check for causes related to lung, chest, breast, etc.

Ooooohhhh that kind of pull? Like a muscle strain??? I was thinking pulled, like between thumb and forefinger. :roflmao: http://www.smileypad.com/v221/Feelings/Doh3.gif

Crazy? I would never suggest such a thing! I for one would never be that judgemental. Everyone can pull whatever they want whenever they want, provided of course it is not illegal in your state :D

Not crashing.
Same here.
A friend and I took off ahead of the main Montrose pack to get a head start this morning. When the main pack caught us we jumped in near the tail end and were happily drafting the group at around 30 mph down Huntington Drive when not even a minute into the ride someone ahead of us dropped a water bottle and the next thing I saw was about half a dozen riders all went down right in front of us. Will (zzzwillzzz) witnessed the crash too. One hip injury and one broken upper arm....I heard people talking about at ride's finish. Yikes.

How in the heck did you "pull your nipple"??? :roflmao:
I tried to beat that little MILF and just put too much effort into it, I guess. I was tired at that point and by pulling with my right arm too hard, I somehow pulled whatever is under the nipple on the left side. It really hurt too! I can't imagine ever having one pierced if the pain is even remotely like that. I actually rubbed it in front of everyone! I had no choice...:o

Mine was getting back on the Bike after two weeks of being really sick with that Bug going around, only 22 miles with a 17.4 average but it felt brilliant!!
I couldn't ride today because we're moving next Saturday so I spent the whole Day packing and getting rid of Junk etc... The sooner this is all over the better...

Went into Performance Bike today to ask about a broken seal in my CO2 inflator. Not only did they replace the entire unit no questions asked, but they had Speedplay stainless zeros on sale. I've been looking for a deal on those for a while, and I have never seen them on sale. Definitely my highlight, since I didn't ride today.
