Welcome back maunakea, your tech advice has been missed.

Due to a change in personal circumstances a road-trip was what I had in mind! The itinerary you have suggested sounds very appealing, but I want to visit my overseas friends as much as possible. So far I have planned: Malmo, Munich and Boston, but if I could squeeze in a trip to Hong-Kong/China that would be the icing on the cake.

My current folding choices:

BF Tikit
MU XL
Swift
Pacific Reach
Brompton S-type - ss

I am afraid Downtube is not on my list, but that is because I have always been a sucker for "form over function". The bike will be modded for fixed ideally.

Dahon have mooted the idea of a new fixed/ss on their forum, but this is not definite and would not be available 'till 2008...

F&T, thanks for remembering me. Swift ... that's my prediction. The Swift rides like no other 406 folder, no front end squirrelies when dancing.

He's got the weak dollar in his favor. Problem probably will be taking them all back with him and not looking like some kind of dealer.

I like the new office pool: what, and how many, folders will F&T buy on his circumnavigation. Personally, I wouldn't leave China with any money left.... but with several high-end Dahons. F&T, you could flip some when back in the UK and pay for the ones you keep. You could probably even find a new species and write a foldsoc report.
