General Cycling Discussion - Brown spot on the back of each hand

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Ahhh! The really nice weather is finally here! I rode in the sun for 5 hours yesterday with just helmet, shirt, shorts and fingerless gloves.
This morning the brown circles on the backs of my hands are starting to show. My family thinks that I’m nuts but I’m proud on my cyclists' tan.
How about you? Do you think that the odd tan lines are a badge, or do you try to get a more even tan?

My wife gets loves to bust them on me because I have tan lines on my head where the sun shines through the vents on my helmet. Kind of makes me look like a wolverine.:D

A friend of mine asked the other day about the brown rectangles
on the back of my hands. I had to explain it was the opening in the back of my cycling gloves. It used to be everyone could tell when I golfed a lot (white left hand), now they can tell when I have been riding a lot.

I used to love my gloves with the woven mesh on the back of the hands. I used to have brown spots all over the back of my hands and people would wonder what kind of disease I had.

I think it is a badge of which to be proud.. I also think the helmet strap marks and white areas about the eyes are pretty cool. Don't think any other sport would give you these tan lines..
Those of us who are melanin-challenged freckle and/or burn instead of tanning ...

.....for a minute I thought that it might be a toilet paper tear through, but not on the back of your hand. ;) - Ted

I got em!:D But I got hold of one of those cool max head bandannas to wear under the helmet to stop the "head stripe" condition.;)
