Very nice looking bike...now go scrap it up and chip the paint and get it dirty
I love the green and white

Yeah, lower your seat... it scares me having a seat that high. I always think I'm going to hit myself in the nuts.

The brakes are nicer than just about any BMX brand ones...

Of course the best brakes of all are none, but I'll stop preaching :p

Wow, nice bike and photos! Love the studio shots. :D

Couple q's, first to what type of riding is that frame best suited and secondly, how's the feel of that hub compared to your I9? Discernable difference?

It costs more than your whole familys body parts on the black market, and it weighs less than your fat aunts birth weight...

That was pretty random. Nice bike, but ya shoulda posted it in my bike check thread! ADURRR!

Wow. I don't think his fat aunt would weigh around 24-26 lbs at birth.

Looks so good. The seat defiently needs to be lowerd though, and the bars aren't inline.

Nice. Studio backdrop and lighting even, fancy. ...but here is what happens when a non-professional tries to mickey mouse a studio and things go wrong (note my legs in jeans sticking out from under sheet!)

thanks! i wasn't sure about the green and white before i built it. when it was done i thought it looked nice though. i know, i need to learn to ride first. maybe when i move to arizona there will be skate/bike parks i could try.

Nice bike. I like it... except for the hubs, brakes, and brake lever. thanks. yes, the brakes are the main thing i should have just went with the norm. i could have just got the Revenge brakes or something, but i can't change that now. i think i understand why this type of bike should have the 990 style. i should have taken the original advice from people a long time ago.

as for the hubs, i love them. very different...the rear anyway

...lower your seat :) the hub seems really cool. i cannot speak of its durability yet. nor will i ever be as rough on it as some of you are. i am not at that skill level.

yes, the engagement is instantaneous.

i will lower seat before i go riding :)

Yeah, lower your seat... it scares me having a seat that high. I always think I'm going to hit myself in the nuts. i know.

actually, if you have seen any of my drop/ jump vids in the mtb forum you would note that i must have a thing for seats going up my ***** :p

Wow, nice bike and photos! Love the studio shots. :D

Couple q's, first to what type of riding is that frame best suited and secondly, how's the feel of that hub compared to your I9? Discernable difference? i am envious of the professional shots always being posted in the mtb section. i did my best... :o (see the diaster photo above. the timer went off after total collapse.)

i am not a bmx expert, but i believe this frame is kind of their do-all frame for street/dirt type riding. the frames are made at waterford cycles.

basically no comparison with the I9. it is literally instantaneous. i mean i am not saying it matters, makes a better rider, etc...it is just pretty cool. when feeling for play on the I9's at the crank end you still have some between the clicks. when you do this same thing with the Stealth, there is none.

while riding, it is totally silent. you hear the tires on the pavement. that is kind of weird itself. i would buy them again or maybe even for another bike. seems like they would be good for trials.

we'll see how they hold up. they appear to be made very nicely. only thing is, i am not the best to put them through a punishment test. so they will probably last just fine for me.

mx_599
01-07-07, 11:00 PM
nice, how much did it cost in all, and how much does it wiegh? price, i am a bit embarrassed to say. let me preface it by saying that it was mostly my last tax return before going back to school and i splurged like the money didn't need to go elsewhere. $1500 is an underestimate. :o ...but even if you subtract the oddball stuff i got like brakes, seat post, or hubs...it was still around that price. i guess bmx'ers can be expensive too. i didn't set-out to make it that much but when you build your own bike, things just start adding up.

not sure what a good weight is...but about 26lbs (crudely weighed with me on bath room scale minus my weight). so it is not exactly light i guess.

Jesus, that seat is high. I have to wonder what made you go for those hubs, too; I'm fairly positive that those are designed for racing... i will lower it. i just wanted to try the hubs and at the time it seemed like an okay bike to go on. i don't know if they are only for racing. these are supposed to be a "street" version with a 14mm axle capable of pegs if you desire.

what should my handlebars be inline with as noted by another forumer earlier in this thread?

MadMan2k
01-07-07, 11:17 PM
The fork blades. Some people like them forward or back a little though. I think having them a little back makes it easier to manual.

CMcMahon
01-07-07, 11:22 PM
I set mine up so that if you drew a line through the center of the steerer tube, the center of the barends would be even with it. I hope that makes sense.

then i am not quite sure why FuzzyRyder said they weren't inline? according to the above two suggestions, i believe they look nearly spot on? no...?

Thats one of the nicest standards I've seen. Good to see your still rocking the high seat and larger sprocket. Now ride that baby into the ground. But more importanly, have fun doing it.

The bars are best alined with the fork legs. Makes steering feel the best and it looks best that way in my opinion. I used to ride with my bars straightup and down, but it feels better inline with the fork legs.

I wouldn't call 30t a large sprocket.

Some people would nowadays, a year ago a 30t was tiny, now its pretty normal

what you mention above is how i always set up my motocross bikes.

I can't ride with my bars in any position other than inline with the forks... otherwise it feels really weird.

Having your bars match your head angle would improve your ability to barspin, no? It looks set up properly to me in the photo.

lol at the studio mishap - I would hate to have one of those monster trophies topple on me. :D Shots are def. looking better though.

Did you talk with the Stealth guys at all? Any word on that hub in mtb fitment? ;)

not recently...but i will probably contact him soon. i told him awhile back that he should make a single speed hub capable of 4/5 speeds like i9 and hadley. i think that would be perfect for trials. they do have a SS hub available now and their updated/stronger regular 8/9 speed hub is supposed to be almost ready. i guess he is making a road hub too.

1 more question, how much was the frame?
