Well,

I went to Galyan's during lunch and asked a few more questions about the NORTH FACE bikes I've seen there. The frame is made by Iron Horse and has the 5 year warranty that covers all Iron Horse bikes. They even had a brochure.

They have 3 alloy hardtails and the Denali is the high end. It has:

Rockshox Pilot XC fork
Shimano Deore/Deore LX drivetrain
Shimano LX shifters
Hayes Mech disc brakes (I thought they were Avids at first)
Clipless pedals (since I'm new to the trails is this a bad idea for me?)
$699 price tag (about $100 over the other bikes I've been looking at)

It seems a bit heavy, but no more so than the other bikes I've seen. I'm not planning to races any time soon anyhow.

This seems to be a better equipped bike than the Giant Iguana Disc I am considering. I didn't have time for a test ride today, maybe this evening after work I'll be able to take one for a spin.

I'm interested in any opinions that anyone may have. Should I stick with the Iguana? Or is the Denali a good deal that is worth the extra $100?

Thanks

Ok...Ironhorse is good...now the question left is which bike is it?...

At a local bike shop they would switch the hayes for avids...hayes mechs blow and are worse than any other brake on the market imo. Sound like it could be the sinister series...if it is...grab it...it is a great bike.

Do you have a pic or link to this bike? Didn't know North Face had a line of bikes.

North Face doesn't, IronHorse does......hee hee.

I saw an Ironhorse Hollowpoint Expert the other day, it looked pretty sweet.
