Well I see very little of wrong way riders or any riders at all.

Wrong way cyclist equals death here. Bicycle lanes and sidewalks is where these people cycle.

Well the next time I am in Tempe I will get a no ridding on sidewalk sign law. I even think they have a direction for a bicycle if I remember.
I think on Mill Ave. south of Apache there are 'Cyclist Wrong Way' signs on the back of the "Bike Lane" signs.
In my observation there are not so many wrong way cyclists on the roads, but lots on the sidewalks.
There are lots of wrong way cyclist on the road on 25mph bike lane striped College Ave. south of Apache. I've enountered at least three in the shoulder on Rural 45mph striped shoulder coming toward me.

FWIW, I was just commenting on the law in effect at the time in Texas.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, "just commenting" on irrelevant history. I commented on "what its worth;" nothing.

So, you chose to comment on something you considered "irrelevant history", in a reply that wasn't even directed to you?

Thanks for once again illustrating why you are regarded as A&S' reigning curmudgeon, and perpetual holder of the Nattering Nabob of Negativism award.

Don't get me started on software for cyclists or the serious cyclists who "need" it. Or a poster who promotes it on every post.

LOL - it doesn't take much to get you started...you seem to be irritated by most everybody and everything (thus, your reputation as the King of the Curmudgeons). Which makes it all the more ironic when you attempt to criticize "serious cyclists".

As for my sig, Joe Gardner (the forum owner) is OK with it...especially since I'm paying him a couple of hundred dollars per month in advertising fees (see my ad to the right?).

IF Joe is OK with your commercial signature, it doesn't make any difference what I think about it.

As far as seeing your, or anybody else's ads - Nope! Firefox and Adblocker Plus removes that flotsam and jetsam before I ever see it.

Well as long as you are touting the stuff, do you have anything for the Palm platform?

Better yet, a portable version that will run platform independent so I can run it off my thumb drive!

Nope...not enough market share for such a niche product. Though I do have some users who are logging via a spreadsheet on their Palms, and then bulk importing that to CycliStats.

I'm looking into a Web 2.0 implementation for sometime in the future, which would be platform independent (except for folks stuck on Mac OS 9). For now, it's a Windows app.

Wow. You are certainly touchy(aka insecure) about what you consider to be serious cyclists. Some people are data driven. They prefer tangible things. They enjoy numbers and the objective measurements of their progress. It is really no big deal. Different strokes for different folks.

Yep, some are anal retentive about keeping detailed logs about everyday activities too. Which is fine for those oriented that way. Software for tracking the minutia should be very helpful to those serious about such things.

Face it. We're all anal retentive for being on this forum in the first place. Seriously.

Agreed. Just some are more serious about it.:)

I see situations in which riding the wrong way is prefectly logical, ie you need to make a left onto a MAJOR road, go a quarter mile and then make another left, its much safer to just ride on the wrong shoulder than to cross both lanes of traffic twice.

But if a car is coming toward you you either have to get off the road or they have to cross the center line to go around you. If their happens to be a traffic in the other lane and your bike is not equipped to go off road, the car you are meeting is going to have to stop and things just get awkward. If you are on the correct side of the road, the traffic just flows better. You don't have to get off the road and cars coming up behind you can just slow to your speed and wait for an opportunity to pass. I saw 3 wrong way riders this week. I'm sure they weren't going very far but one was at night and the other one was ju bmping from one side of the road to the other just to avoid sharing a lane with a car. He didn't see me coming and started to switch sides but then he saw me and went back over to the wrong side and got off the road. After I passed, he jumped over to the correct side of the road. This was probably one of the most confusing accounts I've seen.
