Clydesdales/Athenas (200+ lb / 91+ kg) - WIll rolling resistance improve as I lose weight?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

How much does weight play in rolling resistance? It will probably deform the tires more. WIll it affect the hubs as well? Is there a formula somewhere that will tell me what my rolling resistance will be at 180 pounds versus 220?

This takes into account drag, rolling resistance, wind speed, altitude/air density, and temp/air density as well as grade! How's that!

:D

Edit: Also tire size, pressure, riding position, and bike geometry

Also weight, and will give wattage results that agree closely with my bike computer, so the designer has a consistent algorithm.

You can get your brake HP even if you want by going to this site and entering your wattage output as a decimal portion of a kilowatt.

Wow, very cool. Thanks!

So Zabriskie's legendary TdF time trial was sustaining around 500 watts for the duration of the event?! Oh my.

This app is selling me new tires! Hehehe. They should have ads off to the side.

Hmm, I never see ads at either one, but then again, I have popup blockers operating and don't use IE. I use Firefox and require specific authorization to be clicked before any added content or script can run.:D

No, no no. Sorry, the site sold me new tires not because of ads. I just plugged in my touring tires versus racing slicks. I gained 1.1 mph! BOOM, SOLD!!! CHA-CHING!!

I think losing weight will increase resistance. After all, you will be much less round.

Wait, you were talking about tires?! (I have been pretty round myself in the past, not picking on anyone)
