I wanted to try this last sunday, but the wind was terrible Sunday stunk. So, I'm gonna try again this Sunday. It's just about 100 miles from my house in Ontario to R.C., over to Glendora, up GMR to the village and back. I may be biting off more than I can chew  but I'll have fun tryin. I guess I'm doing my first century solo for January. Wish me luck. I'm sure I'll need it.

Were you intentionally hoping to do it solo? If not, there's always this (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=257008).

Broken link, but I assume you mean this: http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=257008

The ride you set up, but are trying to back out of? That one? ;)

edit: oh, sure. go back and fix the link but don't mention anything so I look like I'm crazy...

Yeah, you could join us for Baldy Challenge. I've done a solo century before, and it's a different experience. (Not better or worse. Different.) So if you want to go at it solo, go for it. :) As suggested to me when I planned mine (especially since I decided to throw in over 10k feet of climbing) having a phone contact to pick you up in case of an emergency isn't a bad idea. (Thanks again, Tracy!) Good luck, have fun, and be safe.

good luck, scott. I would love to do this ride with you (after I get my allez triple out of layaway) sometime. Let me know.

Have fun out there, Scott. I'm not one to want to ride 100 solo (although technically I have on organized rides, but there were other riders out there who talked to me along the route, so I was never really alone). So, I admire you for doing it. Be safe and have fun! :)

Yah, I saw that ride posted, but I thought I might hold you speedsters back. Are you the guy with the Basso and rope tow?

If your ride is still on, I may be able to time my ride to meet you guys at the bottom of GMR. It would be nice to ride with others in the hills.

They talked to you cause your a girl, and your nice. Strangers don't generally talk to me when I ride. I think it may be a gender thing- or maybe I just look mean.

Based on the estimates from the other thread, your group may be reaching the bottom of GMR at about 9ishhh. I should be there about the same time. I understand, ME may be showing up with some others, so I may get lucky and find some fellow bfer's out there. I'll keep an eye out for some BF jerseys.

Scott, I will definitely come join you at the bottom of GMR at 9:00am (I realize you may not be there exactly at 9!) to ride up GMR with you on Sunday. I will admit - my legs will be very tired, but I plan to spin it most of the way. I'll go as far as I can, which is hopefully the village! If for any reason I don't decide to come (I am human, after all), I would call you. Otherwise, I'll see you on Sunday! :)
P.S. I don't have a BF jersey, but you know what I look like.

That's right. I forgot you are doing the Stagecoach. You are truly Amazonian. Ok, what you call spinnin is my survival, just make it up the %$#& mountain, cadence. So, that's fine with me. See ya Sunday, stay safe at Stagecoach.

Sounds like a nice ride. :) I might be riding over to GMR sunday morning myself to give it a try or riding out to Huntington Beach on monday morning, either way i'd be starting at home (or my friends place in Rancho Cucamonga). I'm not sure yet, it'll be a short ride one day and a long ride the other. No century for me yet, though the long ride will be about 50 miles with plenty of hills. Or i might just go out to Mt. Rubidoux since it's been a while... Decisions decisions... :D

its more about being a p@#sy than about needing a shiny bike-though the shininess will surely be reveled in. i'm thinking about it, though....

It looks like some of us, will choose to go to down GMR and back through highway 39, and avoid the ice cold GRR. So, there will be about 12 miles less climbing.

AHhh, after you train on your bike, you'll never need the triple. Your gonna blow by me on that new shiny thing. Your gonna force me to buy some new fangled, ultralight, carbon mountain goat.
