View Full Version : Rides to Whittlesea/Kinglake
This is to all Victorians...
Anyone done the ride out to Whittlesea via Plenty road....heard there's a good climb from Whittlesea to Kinglake. Don't know if that climb is Humevale Rd?
Sorry, I can't help with details.
However ...... if you want some company while doing the ride, go over to the Bicycles Victoria (http://www.bv.com.au/forums)forums, you'll find a few proposed rides in the area under the "Plan a Ride" section and a whole bunch of people who will be more than happy to give you suggestions.

The most popular climb to Kinglake is via the St Andrews-Kinglake Road.

I normally do that ride, via kangaroo ground and panton hill, but the climb (mt beggary?) up to king lake via st andrews isn't long and it's easy in comparison to SKCC thursday rides...???

Depends how fast you ride the Kinglake climb (I'm guessing by the SKCC that the Thurday ride you are mentioning is the Alpine Tour of the Suburbs?).
Kinglake climb 7.46km 4.8% is more challenging then Humevale 7km 3.6%

You can take the main rd from whittlesea to the top (Kinglake West) which is a steeper climb than humevale rd, but you can get rests as it flattens in sections wheras the humevale rd climb does not give you a break till you reach the top.
There is a bunch ride from the bundoora hotel at 7:30am on sat and sun (I think) that goes there.
Tomorrow i'm going from Heidelberg to Wallan and back via Whittlesea, another good ride quite undulating although it has a narrow shoulder after whittlesea.
oh , currently the roadworks on the way are a PITA.
