I will be out of the cycling scene while I fight Cancer. I will, however, be here on the board reading about all your rides and look forward to seeing all the pics, especially all the MTB rides. So PLEASE keep 'em coming. I hope to be back out and riding around July.

Ryan... I just went through dealing with cancer myself. My prayers are with you. If you need someone to talk with - please feel free to PM me. There are alot of good surgeons and oncologist out there. Many hospitals have cancer support groups and don't be afraid to ask for help from family and friends. I learned my way around the "system" so if you need some advice, let me know.

Please take care.

Godspeed my friend.

My mom recently beat back her leukemia for a second time, and since I've been involved with Team in Training, I've heard and witnessed many success stories and miracles. You can beat this thing. I'm riding the Solvang ride with Team in Training, and I'm putting names on my ride jersey. If you'd like to PM me your name, I'd be honored to put your name on my jersey as well.

See you out there in July!

Am hoping for the best for you. My wife, a runner, had Stage 3 colon cancer 7 years ago and her oncologist told her that she was cured now. There are many people beating all forms of this terrible disease and I'm sure that you will too.

Keep your chin and your spirits up. I had a malignant melanoma removed off my arm at age 18. It took 5 years before I got over my fear of the Texas sun and started cycling. Best wishes, and here's to hoping you don't have such a long time out.

I too have had cancer and I am still here to scream at it. Stick to your guns and stay informed. I gave myself a goal that if I was still around after a year I would buy the Trek. Still here....check signature. Stay positive.

From personal experience I can tell you it can be a hard trail, a tough climb sometimes, but believe me, you'll come through this a better Person, more compassionate, you'll love your Family, Friends and Pets more and the little things will cease to worry you...

Good luck, fight the good fight, I wish you the very best!!

It seems like I know more and more people who have cancer as of late...:(

If I could give one word of advice it would be to stay positive. You can beat :fight: this thing. Best of luck to you.

Take comfort and support from your family. Its a terrible disease that effect not only the person, but also the loved ones who are suffering with you. Be strong for your self and for them. I wish you the best on your road to full recovery.

I just recently hung a livestrong bracelet on my seat post for no particular reason. Now it has a reason. When I see it, I will be praying for you.

baja. We both went thru a rough Spring with my wife's cancer. We needed to support one another to get thru it. Often she could not hack the treatments and I had to insist they are vital. With a little coercion, we made it through it. Some treatments can drain one's spirits, but they are effective and the patient must endure their discomfort .
So Cal has some of the best oncology clinics in the US. I suggest, get away from the routine. Visit some inspiring location, your favorite beach , sit on some river bank, some mountain top with some close friend, when you feel the need. You have friends here who are there to support one another. Stay in touch. Think cycling.

Hello Everyone

It has been very meaningful to read all of your responses, I truly find strength from all of your kind words and encouragement, thank you very much.

I am currently feeling the effects of my first cycle of chemotherapy. It is not really that bad, I have tolerated the platinum and other stuff very well. From what I understand it can be the cummulative effects of six months of treatment that can start to take its toll. I have stage IV metastatic disease in my liver with at least ten masses that need to shrink, with the primary site being the rectum, definitely gotta spring for the full suspension bike now Ha, ha!

I will see you all back on the bike soon.

Ryan

Hey Baja - stay in there and keep up good thoughts of being out on the bike, in beautiful summer weather.. This is but one minor bump in the road; just need to jump over it and keep riding...
