View Full Version : Looking for a Velodrome near Wash DC
I'm relatively new to the Wash DC area. I've been mtn bike racing for a few years, and gave up gears last year. I currently race a 29" single speed mtn bike.
I've been riding a fixie on the street as my daily communter for a few months now, and absolutely love it. I'd like to go watch a track race or two in my area, if possible.
Does anyone know of a nearbytrack?
Thanks!

Vere's the email of the Whole Wheel Velo Club, they should be able to answer that!info(at)wwvc(DOT)org
http://www.fixedgearfever.com/modules.php?name=Velodromes. this may help. t-town in pa and kinessa (check spelling) in ny may be closest.

Welcome to DC. The new World War II Memorial kind of looks like a velodrome, but DON'T try riding it.
Oger's right, Trexlertown PA is the closest (3 to 4 hr drive), Kissena in Queens, NYC is second. Some local race clubs car pool to Trexlertown every so often, if you ask around maybe you could join up with the right folks.
There's a plan to build a new, indoor velodrome near Valley Forge, PA, and that will be the closest if/when it gets built.
i appreciate the replies. unfortunately, it looks like i'm out of luck.

They run some track races in Richmond (2 hour drive) every couple months in the summer on an old 1/3 mile auto racing track. It's a pretty fun day.

no velodromes in the dc metro area!
Close as we have come was an idea two years ago to create a mulit-use facility that had a drome in Arlington. It fell through, much to my dismay.
