I went riding yesterday for about 15 miles, the temp was low 40s/high 30s.
After about 8 to 9 miles my toes began to feel like they were going to fall off. It was strange because usually the cold doesn't bother me... to much.
BTW I was wearing Pearl Izumi Juice M2 and SockGuy athletic socks. So yea... probably shoulda worn wool socks.
But anyway, any recommendations for shoe or toe covers (preferably toe covers) that are really good at keeping my toes toasty?

I have peral izumi booties for when it's colder/wet. They have cut outs in the bottom if you have to snap into a pedal, they do wonders for me.
You're gonna have a tough time getting PI toe covers to fit on their MTB shoes (or anyone elses).
They seem to be cut for sole-less road shoes.

Yup, they will tear up those shoe covers. I have some toe covers that work with both my mtb, and road shoes. However, they may not be warm enough.
Chemical toe warmers are super sweet. You may want to give them a try. I use them in certain situation.
If you want booties to cover your mtn bike shoes, get them one size (or maybe even two sizes) too big.
I use a pair of SideTrak toe covers on my mtb shoes... they fit fine. The first 3/4" of the sole is worn down from commuting, so that probably makes 'em fit.
i got some $11 wool socks and took a long ride in around freezing weather. kept my feet warm, they even got soaked with water/sweat and stayed warm. not even a little cold. when i got home my feet we're still warm but you could wring water out of the socks
On the cheap. Put a zip lock bag on, over your socks. Secure it with elastic band.
