View Full Version : First Race of 2007??
When, Where, What distance is YOUR first race of 2007? Triathlon, Running, Biking, Swimming, Whatever!
First one of the year from me is going to be an indoor triathlon @ Creighton in April.
300M swim / 2500M Row / 2500M run.
It was pretty fun last year, and I plan on having the same amount of fun this year.
How about everyone else?!

Liberty to Liberty (NY to Philly) mamorial day weekend. I guess the broad street run (10 miles) comes first, but i treat that like a work out
It will be my first ever, not just 2007.
Cleveland Tri, olympic distance (assuming i get registered in time).
Been wanting to participate in a tri ever since i was a kid and watched Brad Bevan and Welchie on the tv back in the 90's in Aus. Lost sight of that goal for a number of years, i see it again, and im super excited to participate. :)

I'm guess it'll be a road race.
I'm doing the patriot half ironman in july
Sprint Distance in March. Can't remember the name of the race off the top of my head.
Indoor pool swim which I'm not too excited about because I really like open-water more. Then my first Oly for the year is in late April with an open-water swim.

St. Croix 70.3 race in May. First at that distance, so should be interesting.

I watched the '06 race on TV this past fall. Bike course is a two lapper. There were some AG'ers walking their bike up a hill. Good Luck with that!!
BTW there is a John Galt BLVD here in Omaha. Kinda cool.

Yeah, JP, saw it on tv as well. looked like a fun course if you're into abusing yourself. The hill you're talking about is a 0.7 mile monster they call "The Beast". Grade is from 14% to 18% max. Harder than any climb in the tour de france. Should be fun. Someone must be an ayn rand fan in Oklahoma if they're naming streets after john galt.
Not yet registered (waiting for my USAT to be processed), but planning on the Strawberry Fields sprint tri in Oxnard CA in March. Water should be brrrrr.

Usat?
USA Triathlon membership. If you do more than 2-3 races, it works out cheaper than the $9/day license fee.
Bike race on Saturday: Cal Aggie Crit (http://sportclubs.ucdavis.edu/cycling/news.php?news=20070107-1). First multi-sport will probably be the Granite Bay Duathlon (http://www.tbfracing.com/events/granitebaydu.html) in April.

hmmmm, do you need this for most races? the one i signed up for, i didn't see any mention of it.

It is probably not USAT sanctioned or the 1 day pass is built into the price and people with a membership do not need to pay the extra 10 bucks. I think it increased this year for 1 day passes. Don't worry about it, if the race app. did not have anything about it, it is probably just not sanctioned. To cover your bases you could email the race director or just bring 10 bucks and a pen on race day, as they will have race day sign ups. I have done several races that were not USAT sanctioned.
