How bad is the San Gabriel River Trail before dawn or after dusk? I'm thinking about doing a little riding during the off hours and want to know what I should expect.
Thanks.

I wouldn't unless I had at least 2 big, strong men with me, but I'm female, so...

I'm hearing this third hand, but before dawn should be OK, but after dusk is a different story.

from Long Beach to the ocean (my normal route) is nice, but north of Long Beach is pretty rough (meth heads, loose dogs...) even during daylight.

Is it worse during the week? I know that during the weekend at times I feel like I'm riding through the Day of the Dead set.

right around dawn and dusk, the wind may pick up, and be even worse than usual if it's a headwind, and especially coming off the ocean.

My thought was to stay farther north since Escanto is only 10-15 minutes away. It does get windy up here, too, though.
I'm more worried about the "other" people who would be on the path during the noctural hours, though. :D

I've ridden with you, and you're a good, strong, pretty fast rider -- add a little adrenaline, and you could probably outrun anything/anybody that could try to hurt you.

I could put a couple really, really bright lights on and make a game out of it! :D
That is as long as they don't start teaming up...

Do I have to ride the SGRT to have 2 big, strong men with me? ;)

Its the same crow during the week, less traffic, sometime you'll find yourself all alone on the path for a long distance. I feel safer on the weekends because of more cyclists on the path.

Hey, I'd ride SGRT if it'll get me 2 big, strong men with me!! Actually, if memory serves, I DID ride the SGRT, and I had 9 big strong men with me!! I LIKE them numbers!!

I was including you as one of the 9! Although you were so far off the front I wasn't even eating your dust -- it had all blown away in that cross-wind!
