My name is Mike and I haven't ridden a bike since my old Western Flyer! I retired in May of '06 and planning on doing some touring. I'm currently planning on taking the Southern Tier (I think it's called) some time in March. I've been training on my Wilson (purchased in 1984) but recently purchased a Trek 520. Apparently, in stock bikes were sold out during Christmas and I will not get my new bike before the end of January. I worked in Yellowstone last summer and did a lot of hiking so I'm now ready to check out biking.

Hello Mike, sounds as if you have been busy! You've probably found plenty here to whet your interest, as there are forums for 50+, and touring, and possibly even the Classic & Vintage forum (that Wilson!).

Welcome to BF, and good luck with the touring.

You sound like an oldbee to me. :D

Welcome to the forums. Where do you/will you ride in Houston? Maybe I'll run into you sometime (in the social sense, not the bikes colliding sense.)
