I recently bought a pair of shimano PD-M324 clipless pedals.

the left pedal has started to making light clicking sounds. it took me a while to figure out where the clicking was coming from but I'm pretty sure it's only one pedal. It clicks 2 - 3 times per rotation and only when pressure is applied. I can't actually feel the clicking so maybe it's nothing to worry about, but it's still annoying.

I am new to the clipless pedal idea.. maybe someone out there can tell me if this is normal or if i need to do something with them to stop this..

I cleaned the pedal once and that seemed to solve the problem for about 10 minutes..

That can also be caused by a crank arm being loose, might want to check the bolt on the crankarm just to be safe. I've had squeeking on my clipless pedals, but a bit of greese took care of that.. clicking does not sound like that should be normal.

Put grease on your cleat and in the pedal body and location where you clip in. It helped me

I am having a similar problem with my 2002 eggbeaters. They are feeling rough already. They are only 2 months old and it looks like I am going to have to order a rebuild kit already. :(

If tightening the crank arms does not stop the click, then you may have to adjust/grease the pedal axle/bearings. To do this you need the shimano tool (that used to come with the pedals)that fits the splines near the threaded end. Don't use a pair of pliers it may break the splining and you will never get it out. The whole axle/bearing set comes out when you unthread this retainer(NOTE: one is lefthand one is righthand) You then can adjust and lube every thing and stick it back together
Be sure to also check all the phillips head screws on the clip part of the pedal and the cage. Sometimes they will loosen up and let stuff rock around

Oh, yeah. As far as those eggbeaters go, try taking them apart and just lubing every thing up before rebuilding them. They are easy to take apart and it might just be the bushing that is crusty.

Thank ya. Actually Crank Bro's just called me.

Talk about good customer service. I sent an e-mail to them a couple of hours ago. They already called me, I would have never expected that.
To make a long story short they told me that their first pedals were "lacking". They are sending me out new spindles and a rebuild kit.

What more could you hope for. Two big thumbs up for Crank Bros.
