Are there any books available that cover cyclists diets in terms of metabolism, calories burned, recommended foods, etc.? Thanks.

I've never read it, but I know that the Cyclist's Training Bible (http://www.amazon.com/Cyclists-Training-Bible-Joe-Friel/dp/1931382212/sr=8-1/qid=1168449636/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/102-1881860-4714511?ie=UTF8&s=books) is pretty popular

how is it for competitive cyclists? i would imagine sports & fitness nutrition could cover a lot of ground. do they divide it up by particular sports or is it general in its approach?
Food for fitness by carmichael is pretty good.

The author is a cyclist. I was very hesitant to read such a broad-titled book, but it worked out great. I use it as a reference whenever people start asking about specific supplements. I actually recommend it more for reference because it is broken up well - read the sections that interest you and skip the ones that don't. You won't lose anything by jumping around. Most libraries have it if you wish to check it out first - I'd recommend that route.
