Thanks for the link royalflash. After reading that I do believe that I will not try to go "on the cheap" & will order another tire. Might as well get some replacement studs as well. ;)

Yah. Front. If you wash out the front, you're going to go down right now, and probably get hurt. If the back washes out, you have some time to swear and have your life flash before your eyes before you hit the ground. :D You'll still get banged up, but perhaps not as badly.

another advantage is that you will have more time to look at the studs before they "disapear"...

if you are going to buy another innova, western bikeworks is having a sale..268 studded for 27.00, and they have the studs and tool for installingthem..

doco, can't thank you enough for the heads up about Western. 1 new tire & the stud replacement tool along with shipping came up less than I paid for the single tire alone last week. I wish I'd known about Western before.

Regarding front & rear tires - after I thought the roads were clear after the last snowstorm up here, I started to commute on my non-studded tires. I fell down twice before taking the hint and riding the car. Guess there was a little ice glaze on the road. Anyway, both times, my rear tire slipped out on a corner. And, yes, the falls were kind of controlled - just down on my knee and shoulder, both times - but I didn't have time to react (who knows, maybe the front was sliding too) and I still fell.

I wish I had the studded tires, but I think it would be a bit of a waste for me. I would like to glide silently through a winter wonderland!

No studded tyres yet, but I did the same as Phantoj right after the last big storm. Only landed on my knee. It still hurts a bit.

I did see someone at Benson and 208th trying to ride eastbound up past the Safeway. He got off the bike about halfway up. No studded tyres for him either.
