Classic & Vintage - Old Photos

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
While going through old photos for my mother's funeral, I came across this one. I have no idea what brand of bike she's riding (or even if it was hers), just that it was taken in early spring, 1948, somwhere in Kansas City.
Does anybody else have old photos of people riding?

Great photo. Is the quality good enough that you could blow it up a bit. It'd look wonderful in a frame on your wall.

I like the photograph.
By the way, it makes me think of this quote:
We can chart our future easily and wisely and clearly only when we know the path which has led to the present.
Don't know, I'll have to check.
I know that my folks have photo's of my
brother and me riding 50's vintage cruisers.
D*Alex, Condolences on the loss of your mother.
I recall you mentioning a funeral but wasn't aware
of it being your mother.

I'm very sorry to hear of your mother's passing, Alex.
Your mom was cool!
I can only guess that the bike is a Schwinn. I am led to think so from the three-circle chainring and the long head-tube.
MAYBE some of the knowledgeable old-timers are still hanging around the Schwinn forum. Post your pic at http://www.schwinnbike.com/heritage/forumdisplay.php?forumid=4
See if any of those cats can identify the bike for you. Wouldn't it be neat if you had your mom's bike now?

wow that looks EXACTLY like the bike I'm restoring for my wife. no badges or markings on it of any kind, but it is a 3 speed.
