I recieved my rockstar ex2 on tuesday. Assembled what needed to be put together. Everything went together easy and the way it should. All looks good on the bike, welds look good, paint looks good with the exception of one scratch up by the detangler - no big deal though. I breifly rode it. Rides ok but its too cold to ride where i am right now. About 20 degrees. I will let you know later how it really rides.

Nice bike. I don't really like the color though. Also i would reccomend to lower the seat lol.

They still make sprockets that big?

Punx
01-14-07, 08:40 PM
I know i have a sprocket like that...its to big, im going to get it smaller soon though

FitRider 921
01-14-07, 09:12 PM
Those are long (and overly forward) bars... and a huge sprocket.

bikerdfresh

ask your seat how the weather is up there

wethepeople

Fix the bars.

Rockstarex2

The bars look funny in the pics. They are really straight up and down, not forward at all.
The color is advertised as "Tan", But to me it looks like "burnt orange".

wethepeople

They should be lined up with the forks.

Where the bars and the seat are set is all a matter of personal preferance. As for "get a real bike " what do all of you ride? What makes your bikes more "REAL" than my bike?

wethepeople
01-15-07, 06:21 PM
They're made by companies that are still around.

And the bars that far forward means the bike is to small for you.

Rockstarex2
01-15-07, 06:30 PM
Just because the company is not around any more doesn't mean my bike is not a decent bike. Like i said about the bars and seat it's personal preferance.

They went out of business in a year; that doesn't say much good about Rockstar (granted, 99.28% of people in the industry figured they would only last that long).

The bike's probably fine (for a beginner), but if you stick with it, you're definitely going to want to upgrade to something better eventually.

For the bars... seriously, you want the bars in line with the forks unless you're riding vert; it's far more comfortable. And for the seat... once you start trying bunnyhops and whatnot, that'll get uncomfortable at that height, real fast. You'll understand soon enough.

Rockstar is no longer present because their parts suck.

CMcMahon
01-15-07, 07:01 PM
Well, that and the fact that they tried to use Rick Thorne as a marketing tool, thus getting only negative attention directed their way.

Rockstarex2
01-15-07, 07:07 PM
I am going to start with the bars and the seat where they are for now but like you said as time goes on that might change.

Rockstar's parts may not be to bad at all. It takes alot to get a new company off the ground money wise. It just may not have worked out for them.

Rockstarex2
01-15-07, 07:14 PM
I don't know anything about Rick Thorne but he looks like one F***ed up dude.

How do you know? Do you have a Rockstar or know anyone with a Rockstar?

We can tell by looking at parts, like the forks.

FitRider 921
01-15-07, 09:19 PM
Just look at them compared to other forks... and then tell me yourself.

Looks can be decieving. You are compairing a set of 110.00 forks to a set of 55.00 forks. Glossy powercoat doesn't make a better (stronger) product.

wethepeople
01-15-07, 09:53 PM
No, but the dropouts do.

Rockstarex2
01-15-07, 09:56 PM
So you think the dropouts on the odyssey are stronger because you like the design better?

wethepeople
01-15-07, 09:58 PM
No, I think they're stronger because they've stayed in buisiness. The ones on the rockstar are big, and poorly designed. Small dropouts are better, they're stonger and dont get hooked up on grinds as easy.

Rockstarex2
01-15-07, 10:06 PM
Just because they have stayed in business doesn't make them stronger. Are small dropouts better because you like them better? The dropouts go vertical with the fork, how is that going to get hooked up on a grind?

FuzzyRyder
01-15-07, 10:11 PM
Start doing handrails and you'll find out. The rockstar forks arent even worth more then 30 cents.

Rockstarex2
01-15-07, 10:13 PM
matter of opinion

wethepeople
01-15-07, 10:14 PM
No, it's a proven fact, the forks will get hung up.

FuzzyRyder
01-15-07, 10:16 PM
Well it's acctually not a matter of opinion, it's most definetly fact. It dosent matter if your bike dosent have amazing parts. Who gives a crap, you're learning and thats what counts. Hopefully you can stick with it and realize eventually that what we here are telling you is correct, and eventually you will upgrade your bike, and parts when the time is right. For learning you dont need amazing parts.

Rockstarex2
01-15-07, 10:19 PM
[The rockstar forks arent even worth more then 30 cents]

Dans comp says 55.00

wethepeople
01-15-07, 10:20 PM
Poverty's forks are better.

But Fuzzy is still right.

CMcMahon
01-15-07, 10:21 PM
matter of opinion

Not really. On the Odyssey forks, the pegs extend further down than the drops. On the Rockstar forks, it's the other way around, which can lead to accidental clippage. It has nothing to do with the fact that the slots are vertical. Nothing a Dremel can't fix, though.

Also, the Odyssey forks are heat-treated after being welded, and the Rockstars aren't. It's pretty much a proven fact that the Odysseys are the best forks on the market; it's been that way since they came out, over a half-decade ago, and the sales prove it.

Can't say much about * snap* their frames either.

FuzzyRyder
01-15-07, 10:24 PM
There you go. And just cause Dans has them for $55 dosent make them worth more then 30 cents. I'd like to see how many of those they've sold hahahhaa.

Rockstarex2
01-15-07, 10:26 PM
Well- Thats why they are 55.00 more than the rockstars.
