just wondering about how much chain slack a bmx bike should have measured at the mid-point of chain? i am defining slack to be pressing down fully to pulling up fully. around .5"? .25"?

It should feel slightly hard to move the chain, not too easy but never too hard

when you say move, do you mean pedaling the cranks "move"? or move it up-and-down?
I like mine tight enough that it doesn't move much if i drop the back end from a few inches in the air, but i can still spin the cranks with little effort around once or twice...
I don't know how to measure it, but just know that the tighter you have your chain the faster sprockets and drivetrain crap wears out. It also puts you at higher risk for a classic 'pedal your balls off at a gap to snap chain eat **** and hurt your children'...
okay, thanks guys. i think i have a general idea now. i have not really had "SS" experience and of course motorcycles have a pivot point involved!
