General Cycling Discussion - Happy Birthday

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
jramsey, :bday:
It was nice of Lance to win on your B-day. :)
Hope you have a good one.

Thank you, all!
I had a great birthday. I didn't get a chance to ride, but I did get a lot of new bike stuff, including a new helmet, grocery bags, and a Cannondale Police Rack Trunk.
Tomorrow, I'll be trying all this new stuff out on the way to work.

Great!
I felt lighter this morning. I used most everything today:
1. Cannondale Police Rack Trunk with side pockets expanded. This was excellent. It felt much lighter than the milk crate I was using. Of course, this bag I had to carry in with me. I never worried about loss with the milk crate. It was easy, though, to remove, and easier to carry it, rather than all the individual items in it.
2. Specialized Bike Gloves. Replaced the nothing I was wearing.
3. Nashbar Townie Bags. Left folded up on sides, just in case I pick up something on the way home. These also came off easily to take into my office.
4. Giro Torero Helmet (2000). Lighter feeling than the backup I've been wearing since my fall last month, a Bell Image (1991).
5. Old Navy Convertible Pants. I put them on, zipped off the legs, and came to work. After I cooled down, I zipped the legs back on, and, suddenly, I'm wearing work pants. If I look like a 21 year old dressed like a 14 year old, that's ok, because I'm 36. Keep 'em guessing. I worried when I unwrapped them the other day, that they were a little too baggy to go along with the nylon blend look. Thoughts of dancing sideways down the cube farm aisles, saying,"It's Hammer Time!" came to mind. One on, though, they don't seem quite that baggy to look like parachute pants. My wife said she worried the same thing, although, she compared their bagginess to my "skinny" legs. That sounded weird to me, I'm not used to viewing my legs as skinny anymore. Not that they're fat, it's mainly muscle (I think), not as shapeless as I was through age 25.
Anyway, they were all excellent. I felt much lighter, and less affected by wind hitting that crate. The thumbs on my gloves felt a little tight in the last 2-3 km of my ride, but I'm not sure what to make of that. I'm sure it's swelling from the heat, but the rest of the glove feels just right.

Oh by the way, did you go dancing down the cube aisles saying,"It's Hammer Time!"??
