actually... there have been several times i've checked the weather and it states rain/snow showers for saturday morning.... although it keeps changing (at one point it said 20-30 nph winds....)
and i'm not even going to argue the whole cold is relative to the temps you are used to riding in.....
it sure it purdy to look out my window and see the snow blowing around, though!

CAli I was thinking of you this morning while watching he news and seeing all the snow flying around Hesperia and the IE. If you can take photos I would love to see them. I am waiting for the clouds ot clear to get a good view of the San Gabriel mountains all covered with snow.
Have fun at Stagecoach - starting temps shouldn't be lower than 30 right??? :p

Too dam warm where i live:( , i love snow:) .I had to shovel the crap out of two long driveways damn near every day from November through April when I was a kid. When I went to college, my family conveniently got a snowblower to make it easier on my brother and sister.
I do NOT miss snow. I would be happy to never see it again.

Yeah, but just look at all the character they missed out on. :DI'm looking forward to the ride tomorrow (up little Tujunga and over to Angeles Forest). Based on the weather forecast, it will be the coldest temperatures I have been in since I left Wisconsin 18 years ago. Out by Palmdale, it's forecast to get down to 14 degrees tonight and only up to 29 degrees by the time I get there on my bike.
Fun times. I am going to have soooo many layers on...

I guess I shouldn't whine about the cold. I just saw this: http://bikewinter.org/
Under the Milwaukee event link: The Frozen Snot Century!!
yikes.
Ok, I'm coming to San Diego next month for WARM, what the heck is going on. It was 46 today, but rained. I rode Weds at 23 degrees, Thurs at 32 degrees, now in the mid forties, supposed to have freezing rain/snow in a day or two. Life in Indiana!
Do I need to bring my cold weather gear to SoCal? Please say NO!

On average February is the sunniest month in San Diego so you should see plenty of sun. If you're going to be near the coast you won't see daytime temps lower than the upper 50s (it's usually somwhere in the 60s) and we usually see overnight lows in the 40s. I would recommend bringing knee warmers, arm warmers, and a wind vest.

We didn't get any snow here overnight and I haven't checked the news to see what the mountains got, but there was a strong cold wind this morning. Oddly enough we had similar weather last friday. It's supposed to get close to the freezing mark tonight. :)

You're welcome. If you don't mind me asking...what area of San Diego are you going to be visiting?
As for the weather here, at around 8 a.m. I went outside and it was cold, cold, cold and sprinkling. I paid a little more attention to the rain and I realized that it was not rain, it was snow flurries. It lasted all of five minutes, but that's the first time in a good 16 years I have seen anything resembling snow in person. Man I miss going to the mountains and sliding down hills on giant inner tubes and trash can lids. Good times, good times.
My wife is sending me here:
http://www.cyclo-core.com/bootcamp/
I don't have a clue about the hotel, but this is where the group is staying:
Comfort Inn Cardiff by the Sea
1661 Villa Cardiff Dr., Cardiff By the Sea, CA 92007
I'm still planning on taking my bike on the plane, but my new bike box is huge, any mini-van taxis available from the airport?

That bootcamp thing looks interesting, enjoy. :) Oh and when they say that most rides will be rolling to moderate terrain believe it...most of San Diego is on the hilly side.
Looks like you're going to be staying in the La Jolla area. Some of the most beautiful coastline in San Diego is in that area.
I'm really not sure on what types of taxis are available from the airport (truth be told, I've never even been to Lindbergh field), but the Lindbergh field website does have a page on ground transportation with contact info for taxi companies and shuttle services. Here's the link:
http://www.san.org/airport/ground_transportation/index.asp
Thanks, my wife has been doing his videos, and the trip was a Christmas surprize, so I've been trying to get with it and even loose some weight. Coming from flat Indiana I'm sure it will be a big change, but hopefully the hills won't kill me.
I went ahead and rented a Chrysler Pacifica, should have plenty of room for the bike and exploring by car since we look to have some down time here and there. I would also like to maybe catch the end of the Tour of CA, but I'll see how it goes.
Thanks again - John
